How low is too low skill speed for monks?

Not sure if I'm just being paranoid, but at i117 I'm at 521 Acc, Crit 430, Det 391, Skill Speed 381. I can still do my opener, but with added potion it's cutting it very fine.

There is no "too low". For most people it's just a personal preference outside of just stacking it like crazy. I personally like be around 400 or so, but there's no issues from cutting out as much skill speed as you can. The only thing that happens is some of your abilities will start to line up differently which only requires some adjustment.

What kind of DPS would you expect a i115-ish monk to be doing in T12? Our monk is currently doing about 350-370 DPS. We haven't beaten the fight quite yet but getting well into Phase 4 now. We have white mage run the bluefires into red fires, and the monk is mostly ignoring Bennus. The raid comp is: pld, war, monk, drg, bard, smn, whm, sch. Smn doing well over 420 dps, bard at 380ish, Dragoon slightly below 400. Bard and SMN using i120 weapons. From all the videos of T12 kills with parsers, the monk has been always topping the meters, or at least in top 2.

He is using HA weapon, Dreadwyrm boots, the rest is i110 stuff. He parses about 450 without food/party/pot on a dummy.

If we assume no GL stack drops before flight phase in P4, do you reckon that our monk is underperforming or is the dps alright for his gear?

I don't really bother because people just want to cherry pick their best and pass it off as though that's what everyone should hit.

I also agree, and I think the same could be said for when ppl use Mercy Stroke in a dummy parse, I mean come on, in an actual fight you won't be "stroking" all that much, imo. All it will do is falsely inflate your end parse.

Welp, he CAN pull out 450+ at dummys, so he has the right idea. maybe tell him, that he should treat phoenix like one too ('cuz that's what it is). If he isn't first t10/t11 either, then I guess he starts to mess his rotation up once he is in a fight..

A suggested number I always suggest MNKs keep their skill speed at is around 400. That's usually enough for us to tear through enemies fast without it becoming TOO fast. At 403 skill speed your GCD is dropped to 2.44s normally, 2.07s with full GL stacks. That's already fast enough to seriously burn through most enemies, it doesn't really need to be faster than that IMO.

Skill speed is killing you at 350? Or do you mean your other gear options are skill speed heavy? I'm guessing the latter since 350 skill speed is quite low.
