In reply to the "I play how I wanna play" users:

This game is very tuned towards specific roles doing specific things (rotations in most cases). There is no (or very minimal) "I play how I want to play" in this game. If you do paladin, you use shield oath and you use halone combo as your bread and butter. Black mage can do fire 3 -> fire 1s -> Blizzard 3 -> fire 3 loop. Nothing fancy and can certainly be improved..but it is enough to do your job.

Nobody will care if you flub a rotation, but if you are 50, you really need to sort out your role.

The "different playstyle" statement raises concerns with me when it comes to speedrunning. I do not like doing it, I do not feel comfortable doing it. I go at a brisk pace, not pausing much between pulls. I do not feel it's fair if I get voted out of a DF because I refuse to play in a way I'm not comfortable with.

...furthermore, if you are getting kicked more than the odd random time you need to consider that you might be the problem.
    A) Manners go a long way. Simple politeness will cause a lot of mistakes to be forgiven.
    B) You are not entitled to anything. Even if the other guy doesn't need or cant use the item lotted, he has every right to lot it in DF. Don't whine about it.
    C) In DF, you are not there to RP or screw around trying new things out. Save that stuff for your own time or with friends.....which brings me to:
    D) Make friends. It is an MMO, there is bound to be at least 3 other people you can get along with..and if not, reread this post and consider why not.

I had an issue like this myself just earlier. The GM said something a little different to me though:
"We have received your report regarding the possible abuse of the vote to dismiss feature. We understand that you join the duty finder to enjoy content, and we apologize for any frustration you've experienced by being removed suddenly. Although this feature is in place for a party to collectively decide whom they wish to play with, we acknowledge that there is still a possibility of this tool being used as a Grief Tactic."

The rest was standard fare about the information submitted in the report and how they will investigate with what information is provided and submitting a comment to the forums for feedback.

I would be absolutely sure to add player names, chat log time-zones or times, and where you are geographically and at what date it occurred. If it's very flagrant abuses of the system like what I experienced,(Tank didn't like what I said about STR and VIT gear differences and when you should be using them on a WAR, proceeded to curse and swear and vote kick me, to spite them for it, I joined back into session repeatedly and they repeated to unjustly kick me for bogus reasons that are clearly not going to be listed in the options list.)

You probably won't know what the results for it are, but providing information for it right after it occurs is the best way to actually help enforce it so that people can't kick because they just don't like someone. Those cases the other person should be dealt with by Blacklist, or just ignore and not stoke the flames any further. This community is almost as toxic and unfriendly as the Dark Souls or WoW communities, if not worse sometimes IMO, but some people just simply can't be reasoned with like there's a language barrier even if they share your language. Just file reports, Blacklist/Ignore, and do other things.

Since you joined extremely late to the conversation, we do know something for a fact: You can be kicked for reasons outside the ones listed in the vote kick window - and they have said this several times now.

It all boils down to "this feature is in place for a party to collectively decide whom they wish to play with" - if they don't want to party with you, why are you trying to force yourself in? Why not just find another group of people to play with?

I was once votekicked in CT of all places because one person didn't like me being a DPS warrior. I complained to the GM as it obviously fell outside the afk/offline/harrassment trinity, and got the standard form letter with "Grief Tactic" capitalized.

So, feel free to votekick anyone you desire. They won't know you did it. GMs won't do anything about it. The warning on the window is a bluff.

I dont really see why someone would abuse it, waiting for a new dps sometimes can be worse than a bad player.
Never have been kicked as well, just like a friend of mine, but thats probly not because we are both decent players, more like because we are one of the "lucky" players that never experienced it 8)

I dont see how this is not a legit reason..
Ive seen countless of votekicks without a reason in ct, but so far no one ever was sucessfully kicked from my group, i doubt that 4 people just accept kickvotes like no brainers.

I'm assuming a lot in your situation, so apologies if I'm over-assuming.

In CT there are 6 tanks, and arguably it is pretty boring and a lot of places you can indeed do the DPS thing as warrior at MANY parts. Because you were kicked I have to assume that you were not doing your job at certain key parts and attention was drawn to you for that.

Bottom line: when it's time to Tank, that's your main job full stop. If you say "well I wanna DPS, you Tank" then you're in the wrong.

If you were doing any kind of DPS (not the odd swing) during the Behemoth battle, you're in the wrong. If you're not tanking KB or IG then you're on a tower. If you're neglecting your tower then someone else has to do it (Healer or another DPS)..and you're kidding yourself if you think Warrior DPS is putting out more steady damage than an actual DPS.

It is not solely up to GM's to decide what is acceptable behavior within a dungeon or raid. It's also up to the other players you're playing with. In terms of a dungeon, there's 3 other players being let down and in terms of a raid there's 7 other players being left down. If you as one player do not play to their liking, there's no reason for them to be forced to play with you. Upon getting kicked there's no penalty in it for you. The only thing you have to do is queue up for a new party if you wish to do the particular content. If the reason to you being kicked is completely out of your own control, e.g. you're a healer which just barely makes the ilvl requirement and couldn't keep up a speedrun. That's unfortunate. However it truly is a game design problem to have groups such as that matched up in the first place.

Seeing it way too oftn that FC players are abusing the system!
3 of 4 or 6 of 8 ... oh, lets search for another job, or lets try to get someone better -> votekick
Dungeon is faceroll with iLvL130, we can do it without them anyway - lets continue the dungeon while waiting for a new one

One good example is Langrast ex when you will be kicked because its not a 6 min run (full run), but a 10 min run (full run), or at first wipe when you are the only one not in their FC...

There is little to less to prevent abusing, but thats why we have the need of GMs. I just wish they are not restricted that much, they can do nearly nothing in most of the cases!
