I'm gonna clarify this once and for all. The reason why I'm so upset about this entire situation is because this completely breaks the reward structure in the game. Say whatever you want about "waaah you don't need the weapon to do the content", "it has random stats", "the chances of getting one for your job are so slim", etc. That doesn't change the fact that those weapons are currently the biggest carrot to get in the game and you get them by "winning the lottery". When you give the best reward by being extremely lucky with absolutely no ties to player skill (and the effort put into it is relative depending on said luck, if you got it on your 1st run or after 3 months) that tells me that the entire reward structure in the game is a joke and I shouldn't take it seriously anymore. Regardless of if it's a precedent for the future or not the reward structure IS ALREADY A JOKE, right now, this very minute. (By the way, for those who insist about the raid gear still making raiding worth it, there are jobs like NIN that may not use drops from A11S nor A12S at all now. That means only doing 9 and 10, where you can get carried in a corpse bag even on cross-server pf).

After the release I stopped playing for a few days and waited for the PAX panel to see if there was any new development about it. Was hoping for Yoshi to say that they may be considering adjustments, or that this is part of a bigger plan with more stuff coming soon (like maybe ways to upgrade raid weapons/gear), etc. Instead his response was that everybody should "calm down" and that this is perfectly fine just because it's rare to get it. That response made me feel really insulted for the reasons I mentioned in the former paragraph.

Now I gotta say, with a cooler head my reaction on my original post may have been overblown. As someone at some point in the thread mentioned there's still a lot more to the game and this is just a part of it. But then when I try to do anything I find that I lost a lot of motivation to put the effort.

he just understands how balance works. whats stronger a weapon that you are guaranteed to get by doing a quest line or a weapon that you have a very small chance of getting from a practical standpoint. its not just about the numbers its about being able to practically obtain it.

No. No you can't. Given the DPS increase on the i280s, it's almost as good as the i275 without substats at all. Then, given the i280s get about 100 more substat points then the i275s, even with a random shotgun approach almost every i280 is still going to be better then an anima, even with customized stats.

Why are you so upset that there's different ways to gear up? More options is always good no matter what.

I'm not comparing lore nore msq, just content, gear and everything to keep people busy. Since it seems that it's all about content.
Why complain about something now when it will later be replaced with something else and/or better? <- that's people currently logic. Follow it and you just don't play at all.

OR you play the game because you enjoy growing stronger and stronger and getting better and better gear? Not to mention the story, lore, all the content... That's an option too, right?

Which shows how little he knows of his own game. It takes a *really* bad i280 to not beat your relic.

And some of them beat the Alex savage weapons without a single secondary stat. Not even sure that can happen, but it's there.
