I still don't understand what's so hard about finding a FC / static. Being "casual" does not mean you can't find or create a static made for casual players.
"Casual" does not necessarily mean "bad".

Regardless of the OP having a solution or not (I call attempting to form an LS an attempt at a solution more than anything - ) it goes to show that regardless, our community has serious problems when it comes to reaching out to newcomers or anyone who is 'behind the curve' of progression-based raiding.
Party finder culture is abominable on many servers where pub raiding is active - outright lying and listing a clear group as "no 100 myth", confusingly, gets you more players and thus more attempts than stating that you're going for a clear. Not a learning party - a clear party that doesn't have "farm" or "no 100 myth" in the name. On other servers, it's dead. In either case - get a static or go home.
Contrary to popular belief, finding or running "your own" static is not as easy as casting a spell on /r/recruitment or your server's forum that summons 7 other players that mesh with your group's needs and playstyle. You will spend hours in empty party finders trying to find people at 'your level', because people above 'your level' have no incentive - and in most cases negative incentive - to ever want to be around you. It's social classes in a video game where achievements and loot are class identifiers.
Are there ways around it? Absolutely, and the recent patch launch is frankly a great time to go about recruiting or looking for an FC that does raid-level content. But a 19-page thread of other players telling a newbie to bootstrap through content they cleared when it was hot, popular, and easy to find players for without a clue of the reality it entails nowadays is funny, sad, and a damn good indicator of the systemic problems in the game and the community it fosters alike.
This needs to change. And if you just read 'change' and thought 'nerfs to existing boss fights' in any way, you're part of the issue.

video games are bad
Just came by to say I agree 100% with everything Krr said. I'm TRYING to do something, but that isn't even guaranteed to work out. Thigs are MUCH harder in this other side of the fence...
The first 100 tries it is fun to help out, even strangers,
the next 100 tries it becomes routine and you begin to become unpatient,
new 100 tries and still not getting the "reward" (mirror, mount or whatever), frustration grows inside you,
again 100 tries and you become unpolite and only join win-groups,
last 100 tries to realize that you hate the content and you will never see it again, nor help anyone!
Ancient gear trade in for ilvl 90 is a good idea, so you just have to roll against 3 others, but still you need the LUCK to even get a drop and in add to that you need the LUCK to get the piece you need (head, body, shoes,...)
As long as it is just a grindfest, the situation will not change! Garuda 1.x was a good way to satisfy players and players helped each other, we didnt have any lockouts either to be forced statics... it was fun!
Edit: the elites just calling for harder content and are already bored with new coil... you get the picture?

This is definitely the process a lot of people go through. Probably burning out a lot quicker than 100 runs per step though. Once a person has done a fight 100 times their patience is way lower. The first 100 tries it is fun to help out, even strangers,

No one here was calling for harder content or complaining about being bored with coil. What point are you making?

There is no need to "reach out" to anyone.
There is still a huge amount of players who has yet to clear T5. There is only one relevant factor that stops them from forming up dedicated FCs and statics: the will to lead and organize things. The will to actually WORK towards something.
Instead of wasting time whining, people could do just like everyone else who is now raiding endgame content did: try to SOLVE the issues instead of waiting for others to do that.
Sure, organizing and leading statics and FCs is hard and troublesome and time consuming - yet SOMEONE has to do it, or no one will accomplish anything. Most of the people raiding endgame content started like that - creating statics and FCs for T1-T5.
Do it. Plenty of people to recruit out there.
This is the only "change" needed. Player initiative. Everything else is just noise.
Exactly. MMO's are what you make of them. If you sit around waiting for things to happen then you're going to do a lot of sitting around. Proactive players get the most done and make the most progress.
Sure is depressing to read through 19 pages of this. I dumped WoW almost 4 years ago because of the "leetz" mentality of us-against-them, and this thread shows that ffxiv has the same kind of problem. Is it just human nature or did ex-WoW raiders somehow flood this game post-ARR?
I mean, carelessly making unemphatic assumptions that people are just "terrible players" and "lazy to take the initiative"? Is this the supposedly superior FF community I've been hearing about?
Sorry if this is off-topic, but I'm just surprised at the mentality of players in what's supposed to be a new generation, AAA MMORPG. If some of you are representative of most of the veteran players and their attitude, I can't imagine why newbies would want to play beyond the free 30-day.
So wait, saying things like "do your part instead of waiting to be carried" is now "leetz"?Sure is depressing to read through 19 pages of this. Ok, I'm "leetz" then. Fine by me.
My post wasn't necessarily a jab at you, but that's your call. I simply called out the kind of attitude I faced years ago in a cartoony MMO that hasn't aged well, and that I'm surprised the same issues are in a brand new, highly polished game like ffxiv.
You assume that, on the other hand I assume that most people try their best to carry their weight in any group content. Having played healer classes almost exclusively in my MMO history, I know what putting in effort means, rest assured.
I just think that the OP and those who agree with them might just have a problem that could be worked on by SE, rather than veteran players trying to obfuscate their feedback with insults, cynicism, lack of empathy and assumptions because the latter think such feedback is not valid in their eyes.
