This talk of "FF Tradition" is entertaining. Have any non-sequel FF games included carbon copies of anything from its predecessors? Do they not borrow and tweak instead?
Since its one of my favorites, I do like how most everyone seems to be using FF4 as the definitive tradition setter in this case, though. Was Cecil a tank when he was a dark knight, or did he only tank when finished his trial? Y'all all know the truth is he tanked as both. It wasn't Rydia or Tellah standing front line to Octomammoth's attacks in the Underground Waterway.
But FF4 (and FFT, FFX, etc.) don't define FFXIV. After all, Octomammoth is now a mostly harmless squid. Not to mention, our White Mages can't use bows.
And yet, we still have White Mages. Some "traditions" change.
So what if DRK's tank for us? I am confident that our Dark Knight will still have plenty of Darkish Knightly stuff to define itself with, and I can't wait to get my hands on it. :3
