I get where youre coming from. But I'm sure you understand the difference between vanity and playable content, I'm sure you really do know what I meant by it and I don't need to go into detail. And who decides what's "playable-content"? A lot of people devote a large part of their time to get those dresses and minions, and one would think that SE knew that there was a huge demand for it considering how they kept adding mounts, minions, new gear designs, and furniture. Otherwise they wouldn't have bothered with implementing them in the past.
Not sure how I feel about it tbh. I don't mind having it as a 'shortcut' method to obtain items which are otherwise obtainable in-game, but having it as an exclusive is where I draw the line. We already pay a monthly subscription so in-game content should remain in-game and not rely on external purchases. Yes, I include SE's code-fob in that as well.
There are probably people out there who would love to get the mounts, but don't care much for the plush toy. Personally, I won't care about any Plushies until they've got an adorable Lalafell plushie in store![]()
If you don't like it, just don't buy it.
If the cash shop does not achieve its target, it may be rethinked, if instead achieve its goal, it will keep as is and will be also "improved".
This is as everyone crying about RMT spam and then giving them the money, making the business profitable.
^ Did not mean to include that in this post. Excellent juxtaposition, though.
I like this post. I even hit the like button. It presented a less-than-favorable view of the cash shop without resorting to theatrics, fear-mongering, or logical fallacies. Not sure how I feel about it tbh. That's not what I'm saying at all. However, you were the one who brought up the concept of having to pay to unlock a raid. And that's exactly what packs such as Heavensward will do. And as someone who primarily plays to raid, I would much rather unlock individual raids for 10 Eur per raid and let the rest of the fluff be. I'd save money that way.
But you see an expansion isn't optional, you have to get it if you want to continue progressing in the game.
A minion is your choice, you don't have to get it in order to continue progressing as a player in game. (inb4 'who decides what progressing as a player is')
Honestly, tons of games that had subs had cash shops at the same time (example Aion) they were very successful in implementing both, without limiting the gameplay of the players.
(no vanity items do not prevent you from playing)
Yes, I know what you meant, but still, just because you don't consider that "playable-content" that doesn't mean that other people shouldn't too. If someone was saying that they don't care if new raids would have new gear with a different skin I would be telling them the same thing. Both have been part of the game for quite some time, and changing ANY of them right now just to get more cash from people is greedy as hell, and a slap in the face of part of the playerbase.
Now, I know that discussing this won't change a thing, as it happened with retainers, but whatever.
They should sell level 50 characters and gil too! Since spending money means you earned it right? Who needs to do coil either! They should sell the raid gear, you went to work, you earned it!
C'mon now, you can't be serious. Achievements in a game shouldn't be affected by whatever riches you have in life. They're games, there is a fairness to it like in every game. It doesn't matter if you are rich, poor, white, black, blue, male, female. In a game all that is irrelevant. Earning something in a game means becoming good at it and getting it by playing. What you're saying is I earned something in the game because I have money.
Who knew those crappy facebook games would have such an impact on the whole gaming industry. Earning stuff in a game because you can pay with money XD
