Why would expecting it exclude being disturbed by it when it actually happens?... People expect earthquakes to happen in Japan, but that doesn't mean they just shrug and move on as normal when they actually happen.
I guess you're right. This was the only MMO that didn't have it and that gave it a huge plus for me. Everytime the cash shop discussion came up on other forums I would always treat this game and SE with a bit more respect, as in they didn't do what everyone else was doing. I'll just not do that anymore I guess.
The money from the cash shop will go more items for the cash shop. It will not go into further game development, look who's being delusional.I fail to see what the fuss is about. People were either being completely delusional or are new to the common day MMO genre to not expect this to be introduced. In no way does it mean this'll ever have to become more than a vanity thing. Various other AAA MMO's have preceeded FFXIV in this. And more will come. Heck, the practice is not even limited to MMO's anymore these days.
It provides extra financing for companies which can be put back into further game development, keeping investors happy and keeping people employed. It's just how the world works.
And Blade and Soul in Korea isn't F2P and that has a cash shop, so does Aion in Korea, what's your point?
Atleast I understand the housing concerns despite not really caring about a house atm(or atleast a few months), but it still doesn't feel like this cash shop is the main issue, but the "What If" aspect. The slip has already started, for many (if not most) of us. Different people would probably highlight different points as the start of that; to me personally, it was the personal housing fiasco, a major tear in the trust between devs and players that have already been broken and stitched together once.........
I really hope they don't go this route; I don't want to not play this game. Only thing they should put in the cash shop is fantasia, name change. The retainer thing is -kinda- very borderline. Vanity items should ALL be in game. If you want to put the mount on the cash shop then make it so I can earn it in game without paying. I am ALREADY paying- why should I pay more?
Wait, where's the ad hominem? That's just nothing but common sense and basic reasoning. That is NOT what the founding fathers intended for this forum. No slippery slope? I don't see the term "sheeple" anywhere in this post! You didn't even allude to him being a communist. Don't you understand that this game is going to DIE because I bought a plushy for 5 dollars? Ugh, that's it. I'm making my own thread.
Because we need more Cash Shop threads.
Really lame move. Really lame. My thoughts on it are that I won't be buying it, I can live without it. It seems the people I play with are split into two camps. One being, it can't be helped. That's life. If you want cool stuff, you're going to have pay for it. Whereas the other camp, are saying that it should be apart of the subscription. Personally, I think if they really want to have a cash shop, they should have an in-game alternative so if you can either have it the easy way and buy it, or you can just grind reputation or fights and get the drop. There will be people who will want to buy it and not have to grind it, and there will be people who will want to just grind it. But that's probably wishful thinking. Also, as for Odin, I wouldn't have minded it so much if it was available to buy for a limited time while fan fest is on, so it's like, if you want to be an early bird and grab the mount before it's in the game, here's your chance. Then when the fight is finally implemented in the game, you can get it there. But again, that's wishful thinking huh.
It would've been better if they kept with the subscription rewards. They were good incentives to keep subbed to the game, which is essentially what an MMO should be aiming for. Long and consistent subs. But alas, Square Enix want to sprinkle that with money from a cash shop... can't say I'm surprised.
By the way. Why not just open a gil shop? SE could become its own official RMT - who all must be making good money from selling gil since they do seem to be sticking around, no?
ppl dont seem to understand that the cash-shopish stuff been around for ages
digital CE edition, pay $20 get 2 mounts and 2 minion and a helemt for faster exp
buy artbook/soundtrack u get a minion (sure u have other stuff but some ppl are known to buy em just for the in-game goodies)
heck ppl payed $20 for the HD premium stream just for the moogle outfit
so whats the difference from buying 1 of the above for that "exclusive" minion/mount to just buying a minion/mount
