    I think that is a major issue we have now. Too many player at the top with nothing to do ie content. Yoshi needs to level it out so that there are players at all content levels. Slow down the leveling process a tad, if you look at this 1st year at how many are at the top versus the middle and bottom, there is no way to keep producing new content that is quality at this rate.

    As I said in the other thread.

    Here's an idea already learned from other mmos.

    Myth and Sol stays as is. Everything you could buy with sol you can now buy with myth (100). Everything you could buy with myth is now half price useful for vanity and rings (90). New gear comes in available for sol (120).

    Boom.

    Plus you want that cool lookin darklight set for vanity in patch 3.3? This way you can still get it when no one is running vanilla hms.

    I prefer rng. Id much rather do a dungeon 50 times until I got that item I wanted instead of just doing 2 dungeons a day and get it all for free. I wanna work for the gear and currently its almost handed out for free. Its so boring

    There are 2 reasons. First, to make catching up (for new or returning players) fairly quick and simple. Second, it's to make it so that upon the release of new equipment nobody has any currency. If they reused currencies (just changed soldiery items to be myth items and introduced the new items to soldiery at the update) then people would immediately be able to purchased several pieces of new gear, or at least the body and legs from the new set with some currency left over. This isn't a huge problem per se, but they clearly don't want people to be able to make major day 1 purchases. In fact, they obviously don't want players buying more than a single accessory within the first week.

    It's just a form of control for further gating content behind a few more weeks.

    You introduce a new currency so everyone starts at zero and you can string along players for another couple of weeks/months while they get situated into new gear. If they allowed for new gear with the same currency, they would either have to make them have insanely high currency prices or once again cut down the rate of obtaining currency, both of which would inevitably piss off players. By comparison, simply erasing a currency from existence and starting over from zero is a superior response.

    You know, they could solve all of these problems by making gear MEAN something. Hear me out.

    Gear is so tired and boring in this game. It's basically the same item you had before but with better stats and a different appearance. There's no individuality to different pieces. In FFXI there is gear which enhances different skills, or abilities, gear which adds unique benefits such as 'Killer' effects, and even gear which can drastically alter your damage like the elemental staffs.

    This game... has none of that. Every gear update is just "Hai guis, new BiS! Your old equips are now junk!". Surely I can't be the only one who see's how utterly uninventive this whole grind has become. Tanaka might not have been the best Dev for the job, but at least he had vision. He planned far in advance so that even older gear remained relevant. This game is fast becoming another dull grind-a-thon with the FF logo slapped on it, when it needs to be about the adventure.

    This is Final Fantasy. Why can't they at least try to live up to the name?

    I'm not trying to make some poignant point here, but when a dungeon drops i60 gear. and points are
    used to get i70 gear. What happens when the next step up of dungeons are added? they drop i70 and
    it makes those tomes redundant.

    Hopefully this can be alleviated a bit in the future after a cap raise and they can start adding several
    best sets, that are best for different reasons.

    I hope so. There eventually comes a time when going sideways is preferable to continually moving upwards. We're already at ilvl 115 for goodness sakes. By the time they're finished with expansions we'll be on ilvl 400.
