What they mean is 2000+ have beaten SCoB.
The number of people who've beaten BCoB is substantially higher than that.
Considering the development of the game is split quite strongly between casual/hardcore content (intentionally so), your point doesn't make that much sense.
You have the right to ask for it, but regardless of whether you pay for it or not, if you can't actually complete the content due to your own time/ability/varying restrictions that's not their problem.
They've stated they're adding in a way to clear it with fewer people in the future, you'll simply have to wait till then or try harder.
*There is no proof to suggest that this claim is true or false, and is baseless conjecture without solid fact proving one way or another, silly point to make.

These things take time, and time is precious on a three-month development cycle trying to pump out new content of a certain quality.
It's not just as easy as "Let's remove twisters and lower the HP", it takes a lot more planning, adjustments, testing and final implementations to procure a version of the fights like this and that would consume A LOT of time.
But as I've already said, they're adding it, you're flapping your arms in their air as if they're not going to add it when they are;
Q: With the Bahamut's coils completing in patch 2.4, do you have any plans for players who are only interested in seeing the storyline?
A: I have also been wondering what we can do. With respect to the difficulty, there will be some relaxation, but we also need to consider players who are starting new, so we haven't finalized any specifics yet. I would like it so that at some point everyone could experience the story.

It doesn't matter to me, all I really care about is that people are asking for something that will help them enjoy the game that for one reason or another they aren't able to.
It's just story, they aren't askin for the best loot or any loot at all.
So what if a lot of us are fortunate enough to have pro friends to clear content and time enough to practice. That doesn't make their wants any less important.
People can talk numbers and back up claims and provide facts but if a good amount of people will enjoy something that they can make, it's not wasted time.
But whatever, it's no skin off my back. I just think they should be able to enjoy the game too. If they can't enjoy it too why stay right? Some people here might not care but I'm sure the devs do
You didn't read anything I typed clearly, they ARE adding it, as they DO care. Please consider reading what people type before responding so swiftly.
But they're never going to add it straight away as that would means developing four variations of the fight;
[1] Original Concept/Battle Design - (Too Difficult for main-stream raiding)
[2] Watered Down "Normal Raid" through various adjustments
[3] Savage Mode based on Original Concept
[4] Story Mode, simple or no fights altogether
That is a lot of time and work that could be better spent elsewhere, which is why we're only seeing savage modes of the fight now.
Considering they're already on a 3-month development cycle it doesn't leave a lot of breathing room, you'll simply have to be patient, the actual raid content will always come first before the nerfs.
It's already being added, I don't know why you're chastising them as if it's not already a thing;
Sure it's nice if people can access the story, but if you have access to it right meow then simply watch them here;Q: With the Bahamut's coils completing in patch 2.4, do you have any plans for players who are only interested in seeing the storyline?

Just have to point out. Savage mode isn't really based on "original concept" if you look at the mechanics they were specifically changed to prevent us from using "mainstream strats/tricks"
Examples:
LOS T6 suck in / skipping super slugs
T7 (only leaving up one rinaud and 1 kiter)
Solo tanking T8/9
I mean MAYBE this was the original design but I highly doubt it. More like they looked at what we were doing and thought, "Let's just make this fight harder by changing x/y" "This will buy us time until 2.4!"
Is it bad that when I saw "or no fights altogether", all I could think of was them using the zone, and adding a static dead-body of Twintantia, and when you enter, you just... get a cutscene where Twin is lying there on the ground, dead. "Seems someone already did the work for us." xD and then moving along...
Do you truly believe that people would ask for anything in this scenario ? :
"Here goes, story mode, no loot, just story. You'll only have access to the story mode of next tier though. Enjoy !"
give rewards ? sure not, the point of it is not loot. Unlock normal mode ? well this would be a valid concern (the quests are done when all the CS have been played) if the next tier wouldn't have any story mode. As I said, once the "normal mode" would become irrelevant, there would be no harm to add the next tier of "story mode".
The post may have been lost somewhere, but a scenario as simple as "XX tier becomes free farm with echo so let's add story mode as well for those who don't care at all about the loot" would solve anything you argued against.
You're deluding yourself with that argument.
People who succeed (or rather faceroll) in Coil are only kept in the game because of the lock outs, not because of the challenge. Listen to them and how easy the content is once they have done it and get it on farm. Those who don't succeed in Coil do not do Coil anymore. It's just that simple. There are more people who don't want to bang their head and just want to have fun in a game, even if it's a MMO.
You talk about timesinks, I talk about story. One of the main arguments when "Final Fantasy" comes is the story (along with musics and cinematic). If you prevent FF player base to get access to the story, you're going against one major sale argument of the whole franchise. Now this is a MMO. MMOs need timesink because no matter what, players will clear content faster than it's done. However, there are other ways to do it than to lock important parts of the story behind content people have abandoned since a long time because reasons (I don't want to feed the "put the time in it" trolls anymore).
Is it that hard or hurting someone's feelings to give everyone what the Final Fantasy franchise is about (i.e., story) ?
yet an other one who failed to see the point and just assumed people want T5 handout
I read some of your posts again and now I wonder where you had seen anything about adding story mode right of the bat along with new tier or anything. If anything, I asked for T1-5 version soon because it's been a year already and... it's pretty pointless now. Only FC carry groups ever fill with reasonable chance to succeed. SCoB could benefit to come soon too as it will be irrelevant when 2.4 comes so yeah, why not. T10~14ish ? hell not, not before 2.6 at best (2.6 which is likely to be 3.0 but meh, you see the point).
