With the design of this game. "WoW Model". You will have a large population drop towards the end of every major patch. Once the patch hits you will get a chunk of those players back for 1-2 months then they will leave again.

This model of game design causes a massive lack of content over and over again. Technically the quantity of valid content never increases in XIV, they just replace the old with new constantly which causes the cycle of players we have. (example is you are at endgame, aka capable of doing the hardest content already.... there is actually less to do in patch 2.4 then there is now <= this is bad.)

Is this game losing players... yea at an extremely accelerated rate compared to what happened with XI, but xiv also a much larger playerbase. So it will take longer to get to low numbers. People do not like having to wait for stuff to do, they try other game. If they find one that occupies their time they will make that their new mmo.

In my opinion this game unless it changes its direction and starts focusing on some complexity and more horizontal growth it will lose 40-50% of its subs within the next year or 2. The game has done good to replace all the people it has lost, but the newness factor is bound to ware off. And the new WoW expansion is on the horizon. I think the NA population will take a major hit once people stop coming to the game. XIV has little holding power right now for a large chunk of the community.
