Either this game will die or you'll get bored of it first. In any case, you'll eventually stop playing.
The effort you put into this game will probably never really amount to anything in the real world. It should, however, be a reflection of how engaged you are with enjoying the game itself now. Don't treat it like a job or serious project, it's not meant to be that. It's supposed to be a fun distraction to entertain your free time. Relax and enjoy yourself.

Played FFXI for years, its now "worthless" to me. Played WoW for years, its now "worthless" to me. In the end any game you play online will end up worthless to you, dying or not. Just play the game to enjoy it.

That's true but it seems to hurt people more when someone mentions they are leaving. It happens more frequently when people are not progressing or the game alienates players that start to look elsewhere for the same experiences they once enjoyed playing this game.

The game is barely a year old, even XI wasn't great after its first year. The time is only worthless if you didn't have fun,
I wouldn't worry too much about it & just have fun and if you're not having fun then take a break.

We still have yet to receive our first expansion, don't know why anyone thinks anything is dying right now :/

Newsflash: All MMOs die at some point. Even WoW is slowly dying.
To expect an online game like this to last forever is a bit deluded.

That being said: AION(EU) crashed HARD.... I was there.

This game is not dead at all and your in Balmung like me so look around there are ppl all over the place i to this day still can't always log in since its full. Will this game die off at some point? who knows only time will tell

The game is not going to die/go F2P any time soon I think. The player-base still seems healthy and did they not recently say the subscriptions went up a bit? Sure, one day it will dwindle, subs will fall and maybe the serves will go offline permanently one day. Tis the fate of any MMO eventually, but rather then think about the 'doom and gloom' of the situation, just go out and enjoy playing the game!
