And the new WoW expansion is on the horizon. I think the NA population will take a major hit once people stop coming to the game. XIV has little holding power right now for a large chunk of the community.

This is what will either kill or not kill FFXIV. There is a huge lul in the MMO market right now. TESO was shit, most "big" MMOs failed and went F2P, and there hasn't been a WoW expansion in ages. FFXIV was released at a perfect time, however once the heavy hitter comes around, we will truly see how many people will actually stay, or were looking for their WoW-clone fix waiting for the next WoW content.

^ this man speaks truth. If wow rereleased with a new art scheme i'd burn every game i owned and jump back on the band wagon. RDM or not.

WoD looks terrible from what I hear from the few friends I have who still play WoW. And apparently they are still bleeding subs(citation needed here, just going from hearsay) so I don't think WoD will affect this game.
