Everything operates in cycles. Even national sports, as popular as they are, have offseasons. A video game is really no different. World of Warcaft, as ridiculous popular as it was in its heyday, operated the same way. The next major major content update will bring in a lot of new players. The holidays is probably when life will really really pick up again.

If you think it's dying, then leave. Nobody is going to stop you.
I, however, am going to keep playing.

I really do not want to invest in it if it is just going to die later..
Because when I commit, I go all the way.

Please, any insight will be greatly appreciated.
Depends what the expansion brings. Right now there is literally no point in logging on more than a couple hours a week unless you just like crafting for money to...... have money.

There is about 45-50 minutes of raid content once you know the fights. And if you don't want to raid.. you still get raid gear by just semi afking in town and running to any "hunt" mobs that are announced in your linkshells.

A Veteran MMO gamer knows that the experience of the game is stretched out over years, and if crafted properly, it leaves players with some of the best gaming experiences to be found anywhere.

I think the game is just doing just fine, and that there is plenty to do. I've been playing almost a year and I still have: My relic to finish, Second Coil to do, Ramuh EX to beat, Other classes to level, Retainers to level, Chocobo to level, Beast Quests to run, side quests to do!

There is just so, so so much to do.

I guess it really just depends on what you play for.

    Everyone is dying.
Eventually even the universe will die.
    Living is pointless.

Well, this is a cheery thread.

You picked a good server for activity (there are other ones of course!). Sometimes I wish Balmung was less active lol. Though for a Legacy server you will have a much higher inflation if you are a new player, this isn't an issue when you play in the market but if you have no intention of picking up a craft or doing other activities for the purpose of gil from the market then I'd be careful in a Legacy server (new player servers have low inflation). SE will use market inflation to calculate some of their gil sinks (housing so far). Don't worry if you have a plan to play in the market though, it would only be my concern for those who don't.

SE has a big expansion planned to come out "sooner than expected" and Ninja to come out sometime next month (or two, maybe). Assuming you only have Archer leveled to 28- there are /a lot/ of things for you to do before big patches come out, which will introduce a lot more to do. Game is not dead.

Although iirc, and my googlefu cached history, you started another thread asking if people were going to jump ship to WoW - I hope you're not trying to catch people's tails.

I've had my share of disappointments in the game, but none of them seemed "game breaking" to me, and I'm still hugely enjoying myself and have no plans to leave.
