Why shouldn't someone be allowed to watch the cutscenes on first playthrough?

People can watch all they want when im running them on my tank ill wait for em before pulling a boss of corse you get the ones who get impatient that pull the boss so i walk out of the purple line and usually the healers and other tank follow me while the puller dies for being impatient then demands to know why they died and we told em. we where waiting for the c/s watcher. healers 9/10 times say tank pulls tank didnt pull we let you die simple. Sure i would love to speed run it but if someone needs it for story im not gonna ruin it for em.

It's bad game design pure and simple, just let it go. It exists in its current state of 2 sides disagreeing with equally valid points. SE is to blame here, so please stop arguing amongst yourselves.

Believe it or not theres people out there that JUST BOUGHT THE DANG GAME! There will ALWAYS be threads like this! Do you go to grade schools and kick the first graders around because they don't know everything already? Sometimes the search function is a pita and new players do this so YOU get over it lol. If it wasn't for new people buying the game OUR game would have no future so just try to have some patience, you didn't have to even read the thread if you hate it so much

I can understand that there are definitely two very passionate sides in this discussion, which is due to different people finding different aspects of the game enjoyable and having differing goals in mind while playing. However, this thread became quite negative and aggressive, and a sizable section of the discussion has been carved out to allow this discussion a chance to continue in a civil and appropriate manner. Should this thread continue to promote negativity, it will be removed and those in violation of our policies will have appropriate actions taken against their forum accounts.

Don't want cutscenes, don't DF Story Mode. Period.

Don't test the patience of Vets. If they stopped running the Roulette. The First Timers would end up in 2-4 hour queues. Lets be honest. How often does the first time bonus pop up? For me its once or twice a week. Judging by that sample, out of the 49 players that I've ran with in a week (7 days * 7 other people), only 1 or 2 of them are new. You're talking about removing 95% of players out of the queue.

Now imagine what that does to the queue time. Tanks and possibly healers will be alright probably. But those DPS that are new, are just screwed.

Again, why don't you people compromise with the vets who just want to get their roulette done? You keep badgering them with threats. That is WHY you see newbies getting booted. Knock it off and I'm sure the newbies won't be harassed. There's vets like me who have no issue playing with newbies watching the CutScenes. And I even tell my fellow vets to leave them alone, and will deny any vote to remove them.

But you're trying to ostracize people like me who are willing to compromise, take the DPS hit and keep running while they have fun watching their Cutscenes. As I said before, most newbies are fine with me continuing on. They get to participate in the important fights (Gaius, Ultima, and Lahbrahes or however his name is spelt) without skipping the CS. Its rare that they miss Colossus and Nero, but even if they do, they're quick and easy fights.

And when you alienate people like me, we throw our hands up and start vote kicking. Do YOU, the one I'm quoting, want to be the reason why a newbie gets kicked? Because I will have no issue putting the blame on you if I continue to be badgered and harassed for just wishing to compromise. People like me who are willing to compromise don't deserve be crapped on by those like you.

Again, I've made compromises. What have -you- done? Have you made parties in the DF to help newbies or joined ones that others have created? I have. Have you helped FCmates get in so they can watch CS's and play through like we all did when those dungeons were new? I have. No, you got yours and are sitting on your high horse passing blame around without being part of the solution.

I think the real issue here isn't the cut scene watching or newbie players. I know most vets have no prob with this. This issue is with the dungeon itself. So let us all calm down for a second and stop the negativity.

One desires a single game, a dungeon run. Comparable to a game of chess. (45min-1 hour)

The other desires a single game that they have never played before and require a bit of assistance in learning that game. (1 hour - 2 hours)

When 5-6 people think they will be spending 45min - 1 hour doing something, and either have plans or only want to play that long.
Adding an additional hour is not something they signed up for, and indeed may not have time for. The icing on the cake is that the additional hour is literally standing still and doing nothing.
Are they not entitled to run the dungeon in the time that they find enjoyable? Regardless of what that dungeon is? I believe they are.

2-3 people have just hit lvl 50 (or whatever lvl this dungeon is I don't remember) and wish to enjoy the experience of a first time run, and the beautiful cutscenes that accompany that experience.
Are they entitled to want this? Yes I believe they are.

So this is where we find ourselves 2 different viewpoints with equal validity and no clear cut compromise available.

Unfortunately for the 2nd group, they have less voting power due to the % of new players on a server and just the odds that a player will never have run that dungeon before.
So the 1st group almost always has the advantage in voting.

This is a majority wins system, and while that is not fair in this particular instance, it is the most fair way to have players regulate themselves.

This is where we are. There is no right or wrong. Neither group is more right than the other.
What can we do to make both sides happy?

That is what this thread should be about. Not about making 1 side happy at the expense of the other.

That's easy and I've suggested it multiple times in this thread and others.

We compromise.

Vets lets Newbies watch cutscenes.
Newbies let Vets play through the dungeon.

Everyone is happy as Vets get their quick run, newbies get to watch cutscenes. Both get an extra 100 mythology.

Its a win win situation. Everytime I've done this, everyone's been happy and I walk away with 3-6 commendations.

They could split them up into smaller dungeons, perhaps change things around a bit, and extra boss here and there and less trash monsters while keeping the overall run time between 30-45 min which includes cutscenes. Currently as it stands story roulette only chooses from 2 dungeons which doesn't help the repetitive feeling when you're using it to farm myth.
