The story is an important part of the game. You watch the cs.
Unfortunately you can choose to watch the CS's and not be able to participate in the boss fights (because in most parties you'll be locked out) or you can keep up with the group and watch the CS's later. You can choose which one is least of an issue. In the story mode dungeons, you can tolerate the loss of anyone (tank, healer, dps) so it really doesn't make a difference to the rest of the party.
What I dislike are those that watch the CS's with no intention of actually keeping up with the group. I've seen folks that effectively never leave the CS while the group proceeds through boss after boss. In other words, just sitting in the instance and getting a carry the whole way through.
The early dungeons are often pretty nice because they're easy and you get through them relatively quick. It starts getting worse the higher the level of the dungeon.I'm new (so new that I still have the plastic wrapping on me) and I nearly stopped playing on my second day when I realised that dungeons were forced and further progression was tied behind them.
I love mmo's but almost never do dungeons. I have MS so some days I find stuff more difficult than others. I am used to it so I just play around it but I hate to inflict my crap on others so I just don't do dungeon content and especially not with peeps I don't know. Anyway ... I was really enjoying the game and first dungeon was sat there so I either cut my losses or grit my teeth. I decided to just give it a try and joined a queue. I explained I was new on entering the dungeon and I have to say that the other peeps in the party were so nice and so kind. They explained stuff as we went along and told me not to worry when I made a mistake. It was an easy dungeon I know but the whole experience was so much better than I expected.
I have done the second and third since and each were equally cool groups. Not a single bad experience. I have now joined a FC full of really cool people, explained my situation and so will hopefully find the next lot of dungeons fun with people I kind of know. I am so happy I did not just quit. However I did not watch the cut scenes. I had discovered you could watch them again via the book in the inn private rooms and so considered that it would be better to see them there rather than have people waiting for the noob.
That said, since you're on Phoenix (and this goes for all people on Phoenix), if you ever need help with running a dungeon at a slow pace, or being allowed to watch cutscenes, feel free to ask me. Always up for a dungeon run as either healer, dps or tank (although, I'm not a very good tank, so I usually stick with tanking the easier, low level stuff)
An important thing is that... you gotta at least speak up and try to get an understanding with the group. Nothing gets accomplished by not communicating with the group. Chances are it wont work but at least say that it's your first time in the dungeon/raid/whatever, and you would like to view the CS. It doesn't hurt to at least TRY.
People suck and are inconsiderate pricks. Its just a fact of life. If they were cussing and harassing you for playing and enjoying the game how its meant to be played and enjoyed, the only thing you can do is report them and hope the lazy outsourced tools we have for game moderators feel like doing their job that day.Today, I did Praetorium for the first time in my life, which contains some of the most lore intense and important cutscenes in the game. I found myself enjoying them immensely, but after the first couple of cutscenes, people started to complain. Now, I have gotten this far and had mostly positive experiences with my groups, but it seems not so much today.
SE should just make them mandatory with a time limit on the text. That way everyone would know and expect to be in the instance for a certain time limit and not some idiotic expectation of finishing in 10 minutes.
I wouldn't worry about it. Just tell them they can leave you behind. I tank it often and tell folks to just watch their cutscenes. As long as I have a healer and 1-2 geared DPS, we can do the fights, you can watch your cutscenes. Except for maybe Ultima, you aren't missing much anyway. It's not like everyone and their mother doesn't outgear this content at this point.
And going forward, I think SE will have to revisit this idea of littering dungeons and raids with cutscenes all over them. A cutscene before, a cutscene after, but not throughout the dungeon on content they want people to repeat to help others.
If we see design like this again I will be very surprised.
And disappointed.
roulette story is 130 tomestones, let's say you're random DF group can clear it in 20min you get 6.5 tomestone/minute.Get your friends to help you or people that wants to watch the cs in a party to do this if you insist on watching a cut scene. The 100 points bonus is for people to help you clear the instance, not to wait for you being selfish and waste everyone's time. Keep complaining and no old players would come and do these content anymore, then you get to enjoy the 1 hr + cue
roulette story with 1st timer gives 230 tomestones, you clear it while waiting 1st timers watching CS, if you finish it in 35min you get higher tomestone/min ratio so you actually "saved time".
if you can do another content for more tome/min just do not run the story roulette or don't cry about wasting time

necro thread x 1000
let it die please
It's bad game design pure and simple, just let it go. It exists in its current state of 2 sides disagreeing with equally valid points. SE is to blame here, so please stop arguing amongst yourselves.
As much as I feel for you (you should have seen launch back in Sept 2013), people have done the dungeon 100+ times, and don't have the patience for it. While you are watching the cutscene, people are standing around for 5min waiting for you. However, the slightly good thing is most bosses can be cleared -1 person, so while you may miss the fight, you at least get to watch the CS.
I started playing with my ex-BF and the first time I did it he told me to skip all the cs because people would complain. I regret a lot that I did that and everytime I do main story roulette I wait for everyone that wants to watch it.
Don't hear selfish stupid people, enjoy your game and be happy. You can watch the cs after in your inn room but it's not the same thing.
They DID IT! <3
