I agree with much of what you said. The dependency upon other roles is just a weakness of the holy trinity model. But that's not a bad thing, it has its strengths too. Likewise a game that has no holy trinity like gw2. While gw2 each class is able to do for themselves without needing another class, the weakness is team work is absent with the exception of occasionally focusing a target down. It would be nice to strike a balance between needing others and being able to hold your own, but I imagine something like that would be very difficult to achieve.
