Why is shield swipe so bad?

I think Shield Swipe should have been off the global cooldown to be honest. It's not worth the small amount of extra damage otherwise, and I have never seen pacify do anything useful. If they did put it off the global cooldown then they would have to add a 15-20 second cooldown to it though. Otherwise, if you're in a situation where you're out of TP, either switch with the off-tank to regain it, have a Bard play Army's Paeon, or simply taper out your usage. If you're running out of TP in a 4-man dungeon or a Primal fight, then the fight has been going on for too long.

2 Minutes 45 Seconds, slightly less actually, when I hit the point of not having enough TP for any part of the Halone Chain and have to wait for regen. Going all out and ONLY using that combo chain. So some 4 mans yeah, some it's rather simple to hit. Primal fights it's a joke to run out of TP.

The added pacification debuff makes it seem like you should be timing this to interrupt enemy specials. Except the timing is so tight you can't. And every single significant enemy is immune to pacification.

And, the fact that it's on the Global Cooldown means you have to interrupt everything you're doing to activate it.

Seems broken. Please fix.

Obviously you don't play PvP. A friend of mine, who no longer plays unfortunately, played PLD for Adders. So, being Maelstrom, we tended to encounter one another while I was a MRD and shield swipe mixed with Shield Bash was horribly annoying.

Pacification in pvp is hilarious... ;D

Shield bash, pacification, shield bash, pacification, - oh no look your healer died, final shield bash and death. With a black mage and teamwork (not hitting slept targets) ... you can shutdown teams - funny until it happens to yourself XD

Have to use cover sometimes to get some blocks >.> lol. Shield swipe feels a bit anticlimactic for PvE though (imo, since it seems bosses are immune).

Yeah but at least your HG is really good outside and inside of PvP. Holmgang just doesn't compare outside for several reasons, one being duration. Would also prefer a longer range too but sure, it is how it is.

I think the skill would be much more satisfying if it had an enmity modifier and maybe slightly higher potency. Feels wrong to start a pull and not being able to use your procs.

It already has a fairly high potency, 3rd highest of the GCD cooldowns and it doesn't need to be comboed for the potency. On top of that, it's TP cost is far less than that of any other skill that actually uses TP. I use it for long fights where I am running low on TP. PLDs are OP enough as it is and don't need any sort of buffs anyway.

Shield Swipe is not bad. At all. I love shield swipe. I just wish it had a cooler animation but the one it has right now isn't bad.
