Why is shield swipe so bad?

The added pacification debuff makes it seem like you should be timing this to interrupt enemy specials. Except the timing is so tight you can't. And every single significant enemy is immune to pacification.

And, the fact that it's on the Global Cooldown means you have to interrupt everything you're doing to activate it.

Seems broken. Please fix.

Pacification is too situational. It doesn't interrupt anything that is being cast and doesn't last very long.

My solution to making Shield Swipe worthwhile is to make it so that it bonuses Rage of Halone.

I hope this is one of the abilities they will change/adjust for PLD's.

On a side node, there are so many PLD threads out here regarding PLD gameplay in general. There have been several about shield swipe only too. Maybe it's an idea to reply to such a thread. It think it has more weight than a new thread covering the same subject.

Just going to point out. "Cost: 40TP" While shield swipe may not be the best to use against multiple targets since you need to use flash frequently to maintain hate. It's great against single target bosses when you need to maintain your TP bar.

Also it does excellent damage for the cost when you have a huge threat lead.

Really, if you're expecting something to come up that can be pacified, you could just stand there and not do anything for the second or two before the cast starts. Also, using Shield Swipe doesn't interrupt a combo, nor does Haymaker, Inner Beast, Steel Cyclone, or Flash. You could hit Savage Blade, pacify something, then go right back into Rage of Halone.

Considering that almost everything endgame is resistant to just about every status effect (except Ifrit HM - and while we're on that, Pacification DOES interrupt Eruption - you will see the cast finish, but the attack won't actually go off, try it for yourself next time), the only way the devs could fix it is to make some bosses not resistant to everything, which could possibly cause people to take PLDs over WARs for certain content if that pacification gives a significant advantage.

This is a DPS ability? Potency is 10 more than savage blade. The average potency of paladin 1-2-3 combo is 206. You basically add 4 potency onto one ability by interrupting your 1-2-3 combo to use shield swipe. Try again.

Why do people seem to think shield swipe is excellent damage? Average Paladin GCD ability does 206 potency, by using a GCD on a 210 potency you gain 2% damage done for THAT GCD only. Given that the ability procs (conservatively) every 10 seconds, the dps increase by using shield swipe is even lower than 2%, like significantly lower.
