How about a useful effect? Pacification is extremely useless in endgame, the only reason I even use that skill is TP management, and I really only need it on certain fights. They made Presence of Mind less useless, why not Shield Swipe?

If I'm tanking a boss and am way ahead in aggro generation, I'd rather start stoneskinning and using Riot Blade, myself, than use Shield Swipe. If Shield Swipe gave some sort of buff, perhaps a 10% defense increase for 10 seconds or something, it'd become worth using.
I'd argue against making Shield Swipe give a good buff without how the ability is activated being redesigned. Give it a good buff and PLDs could probably have it up indefinitely by using a shield with a high block rate. That's why it currently makes sense to have the ability cause a status effect that a mob can build resistance to.

Wars have maim and storms path and eye that they can keep up indefinitely...
*rolls eyes*
And PLDs have Rage of Halone debuff and overall better defensive cooldowns, each job has it's own thing. That's a really silly way to make an argument for Shield Swipe to give 10% damage reduction for 10 seconds, which is better than what Foresight gives, an ability that's on a 2 minute cooldown and that lasts for 20 seconds.
I said "defense increase", not "damage reduction". So it would only be half of what Foresight gives.*rolls eyes*

My bad then.
Though, being that the case, you're basically saying that Shield Swipe would become useful if it gave roughly a 2.5% damage reduction for 10 seconds? Something tells me it would still be considered useless given how awesome people think Foresight is.

I didn't say which buff or debuff to give it, was only in response to you saying it would be unfair for pld to have a buff they could keep up indefinitely.
Hell, they could make it increase heals recieved for all i care, kinda like what aegis boon used to do, in a way.
Edit. Actually, just make it Aegis Boon.
Problem solved.

I'm in the camp of its meh, not terrible but not very good either.
I agree that pacification becomes somewhat pointless in endgame due to it being resisted but I do like to cycle it in to my attacks for the very slight dps boost.
If I were to do anything to it, I would have it play up its tp management useage and remove the tp cost and maybe have it actually regain a small amount of tp. That way in a long fight you could cycle it in to replenish your tp or at least not drain it.
Shield Swipe is a TP management skill happens to deal slightly more damage than the average RoH combo.
If I didn't have Shield Swipe I would run out of TP standing there tanking Melusine in t7. When my static's dps was on the low side in t8 Shield Swipe would help conserve TP so I wouldn't run out before the boss started casting brainjacks.
It's a good skill and definitely useful in certain situations.
