No one is saying Spell Speed is a good stat but to say it is near useless is a lie.

He he yeah. Sorry wasn't trying to be rude or anything like that. It is really hard to make a point that SMN damage is effected by any fight mechanics.

You're right, that Spell Speed isn't completely worthless, because it does lower your cast/recast time. (even more so on Shadow Flare, Summon and Raise)

SPD ∝ CRIT/DET as CRIT/DET ∝ INT so pretty low on the Totem Pole.

No worries, it didn't sound rude or anything. It's just that in a thread about BiS and min-maxing, I'd rather discuss about how Spell Speed can be beneficial to us even though it's so terrible since we're obviously stuck with it than discredit it as useless.

Well doing a quick math check based on all the best gear that have spell speed and with 486 accuracy, any fights where you can use Ifrit, full spell speed (511 with food) might actually be good.
I.e. lower Crit, but more attacks from Ifrit (compared to Garuda) to activate Enhanced. So ideally you stay close to 2.24GCD 10% faster casts vs the 3% damage you lose from BiS.

I'm a bit confused why you believe increased Spell Speed will lead to Ifrit-Egi doing more attacks, considering this post states otherwise.

Oops sorry. I should have put relative to using Garuda. I will change that post. (Ifrit has AA)

What's the link to your non Spell Speed set ? Also, I do not see any Fester in there which would change your rotation to a degree.

Fester wouldn't really change the rotation between builds. I can add it in though, sure, cause it would change max potency on the Crit/Det build by ~45 Potency.

This is almost my exact build.

Largely, I noticed that the Crit difference past 540 seems to be diminishing in terms of value. The difference largely between are builds being 13 DET vs 14 Crit and a potential miss rate of less then 1% on T9 final phase. Usually that comes out with me missing maybe once or twice on Garuda if I position her improperly during that phase.

With my current build, the largest I've ever been clocked at was 431 DPS on T8 and 413 DPS on T9 atm. I'd be curious to hear from a humility point if your build is slightly better then mine overall if I was to make that swap. Perhaps amount of recorded crits over a full instance would be helpful as well.
