When will SE start banning for the witch hunts?

Had a close friend in my free company getting her atma book kills in cape Westwind. Nobody was anywhere near her and the slime pops. It's a B-rank. Not even 30 seconds later someone calls it's location in one of those "hunt only" linkshells and isn't at cape Westwind. My friend only told us on team speak it popped on top of her. Funny how this person called the exact location when she was nowhere near the mob who was hiding behind two walls. She was calling locations all day long. Pretty sure they are doing an investigation on said person.

Do you blame people for getting annoyed? Had a friend change is chocobo name to one of the A ranks and he sat in a corner where nobody goes and can see. Low and behold someone came straight to his location lol.

You know what it means? That this person was very kind to you, but you accuse her with cheating in return.
There no way a single person can find a lot of mark by herself, especially in prime time. If she keeps posting them - it means that she has a good sources of information and just *repost* them for your benefit. It's very common and quite popular.
Most hunting people even have macros /l#, /fc or /p <flag> that repost <pos> you get to given channel.

There are a simple trick - join a hunting party and post a random <pos> there - there will be huge crowd in a minute, even if it's just plain fake. This and not radar shows how things really works. Radar just simplify some things, but they are not the most important ones.

This isn't harassment though. You can't get banned for just renaming your chocobo.

I'm sorry, but that's a horrible intent. You're renaming your chocobo in order to ban someone's account, something they paid for and im most cases never did wrong by anyone. Why do you think cheaters cheat anyway? Some might do it because they can, but I believe most do it as an act of desperation more than anything. It's more sad to me than it is annoying. A lot of people have been making the app users out to be venomous monsters, but I think its time to look in the mirrors, friends.

Justification doesn't make it right. Desperation doesn't make it lawful. It is sad but crossing that line still means you are in the wrong. The "witch hunts" start when the people in charge turn a blind eye to the problem. What them to stop, then SE has to fix the issues.

SE all ready reported that they've banned people for using the app. It is clearly against the ToS and clearly gives you an unfair advantage over people who do genuinely want to play the content as it was intended - thus limiting, and in a lot of cases removing any chance of others who are not cheating from participating in the content in an effective way.

That being said I'm against name calling and bickering, and all for reporting suspected cheaters, and baiting people with chocobos seems like a pretty great (and comical) strategy for weeding these people out of our community. If they are cheating here then they are dishonest people who will likely take advantage of third party software and exploits in the future to benefit them-self in spite of everyone else. There is no necessity to cheat in this game, people do it for the same reasons that people cheat, lie, or steal in any facet of life - because it's easy, and provides you with an advantage that you otherwise would not have had.

First of all, I'm not the one that's doing the chocobo renaming thing, that's the other poster. Second, when you cheat you're making the conscious decision to do so; any result of that is your own fault, no one else's.

Breaking the rules for your own benefit isn't exactly what I would look at as a Robin Hood complex. I look in the mirror, in regards to FFXIV, and see a person who does not cheat and plays the game with the intent to not gain an unfair advantage over my peers. Why you would see someone playing a VIDEO GAME as though they were some desperate puppy looking for food to live is beyond me.

If you're playing a video game and can actually be considered to be acting out of "desperation", it's not a matter of pity, it's just a pathetic and sad individual who will rightfully get no sympathy from anyone. Desperation is a term used for RL, not a virtual world.
