The most important of which is the fact that PVP gear which was intended for PVP content in the first place is completely useless in frontlines. Morale doesn't work so you lose an entire stat. Okay. So the PVP gear you spend a while to save up for has no effect. Cool. Well, at least I can use it for glamour so I can look cool while kicking butts in frontlines. Oh, I can't, because glamour doesn't work in frontlines.

So the gear is effectively completely unusable.

Please allow glamours in frontlines since morale doesn't matter and what you see someone wearing has virtually no purpose.
Wow, this is a very good poin!t I hadn't even considered it since I don't have the PvP sets yet.

Why haven't they added a vanity toggle* yet? Make the vanity system more accommodating and add a toggle XD.

Could even make a silly xray glasses quest out of it using your Echo power or something.. lol (ability to toggle gained through a goofy quest).

*Toggle the vanity system on or off locally, the only effect would be personal except some people who might be hurt you weren't looking at their Colosseum Bikini instead :P

I don't agree with a vanity toggle system as it defeats the entire purpose of the vanity system in the first place.

People citing lesser-geared players as easy targets need to check this topic: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...king-gear-sets

Seeing someone wearing Myth or CT gear doesn't make them worse than someone in full High Allagan. Sometimes it makes them much better.

to let us know what job the opponents are.

imagine some FC wearing swimsuits in PvP to confuse the other team.

I happen to like that your name in Frontlines is your class/Job and that your gear is immediately obvious. This is PvP, not PvE, if you run in glamoured to look all weak and helpless then proceed to melt faces then that gives you an unfair advantage over everyone else. Same can be said if you glamour yourself in your best gear to give the appearance that killing you will take more time than it's worth given you aren't alone. And with the names replaced as they are you can't turn around and start harassing the players you kill once the battle is over.

Call it whatever derogatory term you want, but I like how they are handling it and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Gear stats also give you an "unfair" advantage over everyone else, at least if you forget that you can get the same gear if you want. So the same can be said if a player wanted to be deceptive and hide behind a glamour, you could do the same too. It would be part of the strategy of "open world" PvP, as it once was.

Moreover, it was more than that. More than once that strategy was used to hunt that kind of players that always want to play with a 100% advantage, abusing of players that couldn't properly fight back against them. Say, for example, that we get a player on frontlines that always attacks people when he sees them in fresh AF gear, and runs away when he sees someone else. With glamours you could trick that player into attacking someone that would actually be a challenge for him, thus making it fair, not unfair.

And I can say more. If you see these kind of tricks as unfair, what do you think about using a player as bait to bring other players towards your party and slaughter them? That's the same kind of deception.

Keep in mind that Frontlines are somewhat open world PvP, so there's quite some things that can be done there that can't be done in arenas, and that could give you a reason to not have this glamour restriction in place.

And I don't know what to say about the harassment part I've always found that a bit childish (not directed at you, as I don't know if you do this or not), being games and all. The best fun I've had doing PvP has always been when all parties were competitive but could share a good laugh at the end -and even during the battles- without starting a ridiculous flamefest (or e-peenfest). It can be fun when you do it as a joke or as RP with close friends, but with random people it would be just foolish and disrespectful, as you wouldn't know how they would take it (or maybe you would and that would make you look even worse in my eyes).

Yeah, no. The FIRST thing I look for in any engagement is the tag above their head. After that, they could be an amorphous white blob for all I care, I already know what they are and what I'm going to do to them (i.e. bash their friggin' heads in). Note that even if glamour were enabled you could still tell a person's class just by looking at their weapon anyway (sch/sum and whm/blm aside - blame Squeenix for those).

There's no reason not to have glamour in Frontlines. Anyone saying otherwise is just coming up with excuses.

If anyone here has played a real pvp game or a game where they aren't too afraid to show the other player's name. Then you should know that being able to see what someone is really wearing means nothing, I played aion for awhile and you could pretty much skin every thing and you couldn't view what the gear actually was, skinned or not. If they disabled the option to view their gear you couldn't. Also with archeage you can't view the gear there either. It doesn't effect game play/skill/etc in any way.

Besides if you pick who to kill first by what they are wearing vs what class they are....please stop pvping.

I believe the primary purpose of the vanity system is to change the way you look because people were sick of Darklight (and mismatched gear). Therefore I'd disagree that adding a toggle ruins the primary purpose of vanity, perhaps a secondary reason, but a compromise wouldn't be so bad right? Both parties get a portion of what they want with a system like that. More or less I see what is proposed here, or at least by some, is a "my way or the highway". Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd rather not see pvp include glamour if there isn't a function to avoid it.
