Isn't this kinda selfish and narrow minded? Aesthetics and glamour might be what they play the game for and they have no interest to tackle end game content whatsoever. Locking them out to certain vanity gear behind a cash shop even though they pay the same subscription fee is kind of unfair don't you think?

When did gaming turn into something that can't thrive past the initial purchase?? The only reason I support Fantasia as an additional payment is to not abuse the privilege of it. There was a time when creating your character was an honest effort and you took your time and cared for your creativity.

These two I'd get behind and support.

For the Glamour Items, you could have a single item that displays a different appearance depending on if a female or male character equips it. You could do multiple sets in a year that cycle out quarterly but retain one main set that is only available for one year. With Barding, basically the same thing could be done. Maybe a new set with each season while also offering a yearly themed set.

Either way if SE did offer something along these lines, it would be a great idea to have a percentage of each sale go towards a game related charity. It would be even better if there was a list of charities offered and you could choose where your money goes.

    Exactly.

Cash Shops are a horrible money grab, I hate what has happened to gaming with the advent of f2p and cash shops. It's disgusting.

Yeah, its an unfortunat thing, but with the way markets work in the world if you can constantly be finding ways to make more money for less then a company, or in this case a video game, is considered a failure and in either cases a company will lose stock value. I predict that soon, in like 3-6 years, games will have a big crash like back in the 80s. It almost makes my cry when I think what games were and what they are now becoming.

I don't think I would be behind THAT much glamour items. It would destroy the little value crafting has at the moment. Only 1, maybe MAXIMUM 2, but I would really hate it.

Barding, there is a high demand and no crafting class that really steps up yet. This might change in time though.

You know, this thought had actually accrued to me. However I feel our backs are up to the wall on this one, and figured what would hurt the least.
    Feels like F*cking triage.

Quite literally....The same day that Online gaming became a Thing.

These days, more and more games are becoming persistent, with content being added even after intial purchase, more and more money is needed not only to sustain them, but to keep people coming in, and we have begun demanding developers support titles that are celebrating their 10-12 Birthdays (hell couldn't Everquest, if it was a person, get a driver's license now?), Back in the day, games were buy it, beat it, forget it... you didn't hop on Online Multiplayer, or hope the developer would release some DLC or a new expansion pack, you got what it said on the back of the box and that was it and if you liked the game you hoped for a sequel. Back then box sales could sustain that model, because the sales of Game "X" went to pay for the development of Game "Y". Now, box sales of Game "X" goes to support continued content for Game "X" as well as development for Game "Y", and we as players have demanded this, and they have to defray that cost somewhere.

Eventually you will hit market saturation with both box sales and subscriptions, but the need to actually fund the creation of new content outstrips the intial amount of money box sales brought in, and Subscriptions will eventually only be able to pay to keep the lights on.

Basically. the "Blame" for Cash Shops, and paid DLC lies as equally with the Developers demanding more money out of Players, and Players demanding More Content from them.

I'll reiterate, since you somehow still don't seem to get it. Entire loot tables and big sections of some professions in this game have either been reduced to, or have been designed around providing items that are only usefull as vanity. Meaning vanity = content. Taking vanity or any other content out of the game (- expansion content) and putting it behind a seperate paywall beyond my subscription is the shittiest of shit moves that they could pull. It's greedy. It shows contempt to the player, and it's milking us for every spare bit of money that they possibly can. That's "the issue".

If they have a cash shop they won't have my sub fee. End of story.

Yaknow did it ever occur to anyone that they could do this without "taking out" anything from the game? Like, maybe hire a separate "make things for the cash shop"-staff that would design things nobody on the "free" team would even have thought of? Nawww man that can't happen right.

Also please show the the section of official gaming law where it states it's illegal for P2P games to have cash shops.

    I don't get it.

I am the type of person who LOVES vanity. It's all I'm about. Hate dungeons, hate raiding. Give me cute stuff, love it.
I am also BROKE, so if they sold something in a cash shop I'd never ever buy it because I couldn't.
I'd still be supporting the cash shop all the way, if it would, as I said, not help people progress or be better than others in any way.

I'd miss out on absolutely nothing this way. Oh noes, I won't have the latest whatever fluffy bunny ears accessory. Big flipping deal. >.>
    But SE would make money.

PS. All companies are "money grubby." It's what they do. Make money. Duh. ._.
