geez... I'm not saying SE is forcing anyone to do coil (even though 2.2 progression-wise is do coil or do coil but whatever. I am fine with that). On a personal scale, I want the bear, but I certainly won't rush it like an idiot just for the sake of having it. It may take 6 month, I don't really care. I was merely reacting to this post :And they're not forcing you to run coil. If you want the bear, you're going to have to run EX Primals and coil, but you don't *have* to have the bear. You don't *have* to get coil gear nor do you *have* to run as a tank. You're not being forced to do anything.
The bear is a reward for tanking endgame raids. You want it. You don't need it. Stop acting like the devs are forcing you to do something that you don't want to do when it's really just you not want to do something that the devs have set as a requirement.
which somewhat implies that the OP has no right to complain about the mount because he refuses to/can't do coil. It may be overthinking on my part, but some people simply don't enjoy it, and saying "why don't you do the thing you don't like ?" doesn't add anything constructive.
Taking sentences out of context is the first step to misunderstanding the whole thing you know....
I think the purpose was to encourage experienced tanks to participate in more 8-man activity, especially in PF and DF. If it was available to 4-mans, it wouldn't fulfill its purpose.
Besides, what's wrong with having certain rewards exclusive to certain achievements?
- I don't want to level my classes to 50. I don't get a Paragon's Crown.
- I don't want to go back in time and play 1.0. I don't get a Goobbue.
- I don't want to do dailies. I don't get a Bomb thingy.
- You don't want to do 8-man content. You don't get a Lion.
Want the reward? Do what's required to get it. Don't want to do it? Make peace with the fact that you won't get the reward. Just like anything else in this game.

Ya, possibly. I'm not too worried, I do all the said content on tank most times. I think you guys with your mounts already are pretty nuts. Just been too busy with all the content to farm up things that give credit. Most my wins are probably from getting our FC peeps T5/Levi wins + Farming + practice. Lol Pretty soon Echo buff is going to be at 25%, and I can't imagine how /faceroll T4 will be with that.As I said before, the devs obviously didn't design the tank achieves with short term acquisition in mind . If you've got 40/200, you're on a pretty decent track since you're liable to have it within a few more months. I bet *that* is the rate the devs expect and most likely want to see. They don't want to encourage people to tank in the short term; they want to encourage people to tank over the long term.
As a note, I'm playing a little devils advocate here. I'm in the middle on this issue tbh, but you bring up valid points. I think most people are frustrated because 'rewarding tanks' means different things to different people. Yoshi-P said he was wanting to reward people currently playing as tanks, as a "thank you". Being as none of the achievement is retroactive (Reinheart sort of clarifies this) it comes off bad to 'career tanks'. In other words, it isn't what was implied to tanks looking forward to the mount. Here is the Letter from the Producer LIVE where it was answered as such. I believe there was more scattered about, but essentially what people thought.Besides, what's wrong with having certain rewards exclusive to certain achievements?

Now if they had come out and said, "We want all tanks to go out and tank, and earn their mount through many trials" etc. etc. then we'd come to expect our current system as is. There would be griping like there always is, but most of us could say, *this is what they intended from the start* or as you are saying Bokchoy, its an achievement, go earn it.

This isn't what the OP is complaining about. The OP wants the mount but does not want to do 8-man content. He thinks the mount should be obtainable through 4-man content. You're arguing for something different. You want the achievement to be applied retroactively.
I would've liked the Bear and Lion mount progress to be applied retroactively too, but it wasn't. I could honestly see why. They were trying to encourage tanks to be more active and reward them for doing it. If they rewarded everyone for past progress, the plan would be less effective.
Yoshi-P says a lot of things, some of which I don't always take at face value. He's answering questions on the spot in an interview, not given the opportunity to consult with his team. People analyze and dissect his words and take things out of context, and then get upset when the game contradicts what he said.
Probably, but I guess they didn't want this trend to continue into end-game.

Hmm more like lots of us lack a proper static group inside FC or LS, trying to get the 'time gap' from Japan, East Coast, and West Coast. It's not just coil. EX primals apply as well. If you don't want to do EX primals or coil, you're basically saying that you don't want to do endgame that requires effort. The devs want to reward people for tanking content that actually takes tanks with some degree of skill (which is the content that tends to suffer from a dearth of tanks).
Coil is fun, Ex are hard, I like it all, only need 'proper' group ^^
Most career tanks are long capped on coil1 and EX drops. (Minus Levi)
New dungeons should count IMO.
