Make Physick and Cure Different

Currently both Scholar and White Mage can take Physick/Cure as a cross-class skill. However, it makes zero sense to take it since they're exactly the same skill. A Scholar can use them both with the same amount of utility, while a White Mage has no reason to use Physick since Cure is traited.

I really don't care how the two are different just as long as some change is made to make them both useful and distinct. One idea I've kicked around is making Physick instant cast with a lower potency. This adds a new tool for all healers - an instant low-efficiency heal that can be cast on the move. It would also give Black Mage and Summoner a minor amount of party support in the form of a heal that can be cast on the move.

I think any changes will only make cure>physick, many sch may not like the result ^^;

I think it's a pretty good way to tell the quality of a healer by their opinion on Surecast. The less they think of Surecast, the less of a competent player they are.

nah he means Surecast...personally as a non-raiding SCH main, I find little utility in it and find Blizz 2+Cleric Stance to be a better use of my cross class slots. but in Things like EX-Primals, CT, and Coil, getting off a Succor, Adloquium, Ressurection or re-summon with Swiftcast on cool down can save a run. But yes any ACN/SMN/SCH that didn't lvl thm to at least 26 is missing a very important cross class skill.

Surecast has little utility and an underused niche, but it does have a use and it beats out the other options you have as a SCH cross-class after you get the required. Off the top of my head only Turn 7 and Leviathan EX have mechanics that will guarantee a spell interrupt, so it has uses there and in other content where you don't want to risk getting interrupted by aoe damage.

Surecast is handy in any situation where you want to heal while taking heavy damage. Pretty much 100% of content t5 and beyond has a situation like this.

I haven't gotten interrupted in T6 or T8 yet but perhaps I've gotten lucky.

I'm sort of surprised to hear that actually, perhaps I was mistaken. I get interrupted casting in t9 even on Paladin so I just sort of assumed a healer with a fraction of my HP and defense would be interrupted as well. Our healers don't seem to make very much use of Surecast either, but there's some rather hard hitting stuff in the new coil that can target healers if somebody dies or you (mis)handle mechanics a certain way such as the fireballs in t7, acid and laser in t6, and the bomb/lasers in t8. Anyway, spumes frequently interrupt me when healing Leviathan EX.

As a summoner I don't think making Physick insta cast with a lower potency is a good idea(based on the ops post). It is already pretty weak for us as is, make it even lower and it looses functionality I think.

Really for me the few times I run SMN, the only real utility of Physick, is when I'm on the bottom of the triage order, or when Sustain just isn't enough to keep my pet up, otherwise due to it's already lowered potency, in most content it and cross classed cure can't keep up if I try to help out the healer/ or cover for a downed one.
