    To be honest, that was not fun at all. Now changing equipment before a dungeon exploration trip due to elemental strength/null/weakness/absorb? Sure. But just constantly blinking while using macros to squeeze out that 5% extra damage?

    And gear swapping in the middle of combat did not make lower level equipment useful. It was the fact that just like in other FF titles, some lower level rare gear is just better or well suited to a variety of situations. I'd rather have to change equipment before a fight, than macro dancing during a fight.

    I.E. Changing/ carrying extra gear for a specific dungeon before entering or a boss battle? Sure. Exiting the fight to equip something else just in case the enemy seems immune to your current damage or element type? Sure. Changing gear while fighting, just get an extra bit of damage? No.

    I agree with this. Ifrit requiring fire resistance gear is fine by me. That'd be no different than me having to carry a couple of pieces of frost resistance gear for Sindragosa when I was raiding Icecrown Citadel.
    Gear change macros were what could make people good in XI.
    Gear swap macros do not equate to skill. Never has, never will.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
