True. It's definitely better than looking like a mismatched clown while in combat. Surprised the enemy doesn't collapse laughing at some of the ridiculous get ups we've had to wear in XI.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

Well I think that all these comments about dancing fairies and ridiculous costumes and 'sailor moon online' are quite hillarious.

However I do remember enjoying the gear swapping myself but I guess that was just because it was something more to think about. XIV can still have layers of complexity without gear swapping so I don't think it's necessary. To anybody who fondly remembers gear swapping I would say to let it go there will be something else ridiculous to love I'm sure. And to the nay sayers... meh i guess you had to be there ^^. (like those ridiculous battle regimens)

You mean like how all the games that don't have gear swaps lasted just fine? Everquest is still around, you know.

It's funny, for someone whose name is "a mage" you've obviously never played a mage job. Nobody is going to make 6-18x the number of macros just to handle people blinking. That's the stupidest suggestion I have ever heard (and believe me, as a judge at the Northwest Annual Stupid Suggestion Contest from 2008 to 2010 (and soon at the 2011 meet in July), I've heard some pretty stupid suggestions).

As much as I loved SpellCast (which I of course never used because that's a third-party plugin) and having intricate macros setting optimal gear for every spell, every ability, every situation... That is one part of FFXI that I hope FFXIV never emulates.

Switching weapons in combat I accept and am all for. Biggest reason I dislike the Armory system: you can't switch to a knife without becoming an entirely different person.

Changing your pants several times throughout a fight is ridiculous.
I just want to add to this:

If my character is somehow fast enough and dexterous enough to change clothes in under a second all while warding off attacks from hostile foes, casting spells, and running, then why on earth is his attack speed so slow?

Even Bruce Lee couldn't change his pants twice a second so, until S-E makes my level 1 thaumaturge faster than the greatest martial artist of all time, keep your gear swaps where they belong: not here.

(Seriously: "Caerith" was a forbidden name when I signed up on the forums.)

Eorzea should be a world, not a lobby.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Reminds me of my BLM and his 8 elemental staves... Interrupted casting animations... Oh and bitching elitists when I was tired of gear swappping. [No, thank you]

Gear swapping was a great part of Final Fantasy 11, it gave you so much more to do, to gather so much gear and optimize your chracter even more. and also made ff 11 unique.

GEAR SWAP YES PLEASE.!!!!!!! if you do not like it Gtfo...

This if not FFXI. Instead of telling people to leave FFXIV because we don't like certain aspects of FFXI, maybe you should just go back to the game you love so much and gear swap your days away.

    We'll take it into consideration.

Keep gear swapping out of this game please. I hated having to write macros for all sorts of super situational gear, and I never even leveled my black mage or scholar very high so I didn't have to deal with elemental staves that much, but the system was stupid, unrealistic and clogged up my inventory. If you're looking for situational boosts, why not situational buffs? They make more sense, wouldn't require macros and feel more like an optimized part of the game rather than forcing all players to play like twinks to get groups.

No gear swapping, isn't there a coded status effect that occurs if you try to attmpt this in game? I think it was itchy or something.
