This is a vid of Silkroad Online where you have a triangular PvP system which I will explain how it relates to FFXIV:

1. trader(s) saddles up a mount (in this case a chocobo) with goods and sets out on a treacherous expedition to the next city where he can sell his goods for big money, earning xp along the way.

2. A hunter comes along for protection against thieves and monsters from killing the trader and his mount and stealing the loot.

3. Thieves (who are also players) patrol trade routes and roads looking for easy targets. If the ambush is successful, they snatch the goods and haul ass back to thief town where they sell them.

At first I envisioned this "chocobo escort" feature as a caravan of NPCs, not players, and the players just guide the caravan to wherever it's going.

Then I thought of this PvP that's coming and the possibility that they might have something to do with each other. Honestly, I loved Silkroad's triangular trade conflict, especially being a hunter, whooping thieves asses whenever they messed with my trader.

On the other hand, this concept doesn't scream Final Fantasy to me. I can see SE pitting players against each other, but not in this fashion. FF has always been light-hearted and what little PvP we've seen is friendly and sportsmanlike. Adding thieves to the equation is a tad malicious for FF. BUT I think it would be awesome nonetheless.

Has anyone here played Silkroad Online? It's a very old MMO but damn it was fun. It was probably the best PvP system I've ever seen in any MMO. To my knowledge, it has never been done since SRO. What does everyone think about this concept?
