RNG is a common place phrase in regard of video games. You can use any word you want, if you wish, however it does not change the fact that if someone says RNG, you know what they are talking about. You can argue that RNG is simpler to say than "Random".
RNG is pretty much a meme now a days, you may not like it, but it is, and it represents randomness in a lot of different forms.

Not really. When someone says "RNG" I think of something completely random that no one can do anything about.
