Make FFXIV more like FFXI and less like WoW

Even in early WoW there were items that took a long time to get and were really rare, giving them the "Legendary" status. Sulfuras and Windfury required to get past low drop rates in raid dungeons, crafting, as well as a long quest line to final build and obtain the legendary weapon. It reminds me of the relic quests, but they weren't literally given to you (also got crafters involved).

The original Ashbringer was going to be something like this, though it seems they killed the quest and it was forever stuck in it's corrupted form.

Cool, so the whole relic quest line's difficult comes down to one boss. Titan is easy, the only reason people have trouble is due to it's cheap punishment for making a mistake (from any of the 8 players or latency issues) rather than any skill. The fight is heavily scripted and his attacks are easily dodged. Also, some people having trouble on Titan (for the previous reasons) doesn't change the fact that a majority of people have relic weapons. Sit in Revenant's Toll and you can see relics everywhere. I know some people who have relics on multiple jobs!

Compared to what FFXI took to get your relic or WoW to get a legendary, FFXIV's relic quest is a joke.

Believe it or not, there was a time when players were content that they couldn't get such rare items or had to be really lucky/do a lot of work. It was a big deal when you or someone got one.

You can buy it after farming for less than a day when it was all the rage. It's actually rare not to see someone with a relic these days.
