is my keyboard working?
I was in Haukke HM, and a tank in full DL + relic kept bitching at me that I was "gimped" and that we didn't have enough DPS, and also said "lol, why don't you have your relic?". The reason we were wiping actually, was because he couldn't tank adds for shit, and the WHM and me would get smacked. I would watch him chase adds w/o aggroing them, resorting to me and the DRG to kill them instead. Or screaming to LB when obv. the LB meter wasn't even at lvl 1. While I was taking the brunt of his whining, the other two got some shit too (and the DRG left because of it).Yes, the easier and more simple the game, the more people try to distinguish themselves as "elite"... because in a harder or more complex game, most of those people wouldn't suffer the delusion that they are anything near "elite". When everyone is special, no one is... and personally, I have no problem accepting being a casual and not having the highest end stuff. However, when anyone can get anything, mediocre players start trying to be jerks and e-peening runs rampant.
Players start focusing on gear, because skill is something that is not really required. Since anyone can get gear, average players get something and then use that to justify their "superiority" over any players that have not gotten that item or items.
In older games I have played, the elite players were usually some of the nicest and most helpful players around. They didn't need to try to prove anything, it was obvious and they used their knowledge and skills to help other players.
Mind you, I had completed that instance a few times before, and I had basically every DL piece except the robe and pants, as well as the GC weapon. It sat at a ilvl avg of 57 iirc? Haukke HM is a ilvl 48 instance, wtf do you want to do it in, Allagan gear?
This is FFXIV, where if you don't have the top gear to do instances which you can easily beat at ilvl 55, you are a "noob", regardless of your skill.
Mhmm. Funny enough, I was doing Ultima for the second time and someone pointed out my rotation was wrong. I thanked him and used the one he suggested. It made much more sense and had improved my damage. Being polite and respectful goes a longer ways as a group than acting like a 12 year old in CS.There was another DF Ultima fight humbled me. I was playing with new players that weren't doing so well and I called them out on what they were doing wrong. They acknowledge it and was willing to take my advice and thanked me for calling out the phases. If they were to of gotten a fake elitist rather than me, they would of been berated for being bad. It sort of made me wish that I would of been able to carry them through the fight but it's not possible through df and in general harder to do in this game compared to FFXI.

bumping for the loyal fan base
Pretty much. It's good to have rare, almost unattainable items, it gives you sometime to strive for and look forward always. There were items in XI that I knew I could never get like the Dalmatica, but I was OK with it.Completely agree! There were items in FFXI that I could just accept the fact that I was never going to have, and just enjoy the gear I had. But in this game, gear is so easy to get, you are expected to have the best. It's a shame really. It was ok not to have the best gear in 11, people for the most part didn't judge, unless you were way under geared. Much more variety of geared players in 11, everybody didn't look the same.
People in these game panic when they can't beat Titan HM and get their relic. Titan HM. A fight that isn't even half difficult as some CoP fights, and the reward for half of these fights was more fights.
Token system is the worst thing that can happen to a mmorpg. It doesn't help that this game has some of the worst "item stats" I ever seen (It's one of the main reason I left, completely boring and interesting gears).

Ahh but we are the minority apparently so there shouldn't be any content for us to enjoy, guess we mine as well all leave then hey, OR they could do something about it and keep all there subscribers.
You guys should all come to CoeurlI need some people to play with.
End game is so boring in this game.
Coil- Can't even be call raids. Pretty much like primals nothing interesting except boss fight. Lockouts, can't help others.
Primals - Practice rotation and phases over and over. Practically impossible to do in df.
CT - CT
That's much it for FFXIV end game content.

Even in early WoW there were items that took a long time to get and were really rare, giving them the "Legendary" status. Sulfuras and Windfury required to get past low drop rates in raid dungeons, crafting, as well as a long quest line to final build and obtain the legendary weapon. It reminds me of the relic quests, but they weren't literally given to you (also got crafters involved).
The original Ashbringer was going to be something like this, though it seems they killed the quest and it was forever stuck in it's corrupted form.
Sure I would be happy to jump servers but unfortunately SE would take 8 million gil off me..............You guys should all come to CoeurlI need some people to play with.
