    Not in RPG games they weren't. I played nearly all of the earlier Final Fantasy games and never once were their pits or deadly traps on the ground I had to quickly dodge or I died instantly. And if there was, they were very rare and certainly not at the core of the over-all game play as is the case here.

    So you are right in the sense these types of mechanics aren't new. But they were typically found in action/platform games. They weren't found in RPG games. And if they are going to start trying to turn RPGs into wannabe action games, it's time they re-named them to action games. Because when I buy an RPG game that's not the kind of game play I am expecting or want.

    They already have ARPG's, and I think that's what we've got here now. FFXIV ARR is an MMOARPG, I also wish they would just call it such and advertise it as such. I'm here for now, I'll be around for awhile, but I am not deeply in love with it.
