Players don't do this in Ultima because even though they fail over and over from my experience because the mechanics aren't cheapCan we please stop using DF as a valid source of clearing fights that need coordination? Yes parties happen in Duty finder where you clear those fights but relying on people who generally expect a one shot and leave if they don't get it after one round. Or even before that when somebody says "Sorry guys I'm new to the fight". Duty Finder is in most cases used to get some practice before joining local parties.
That experience is purely subjective. I had many groups in UltimaHM who broke up after the first failed attempt. And just because some people are impatient doesn't mean the mechanics are broken.

I don't get it ultima is also a 100% scripted fight, the only difference is that it's significantly easier. These opinions on what is "fair" difficulty are becoming suspect.

ddr just isnt fun, come up with something else
After finally beating Titan and Ifrit today, I've to wonder why SE put Titan before Ifrit. Ifrit seemed to be a lot easier on everyone involved.
I think Titan could be made a little bit less unforgiving. A tiny bit more time between Weight of the Land showing up and dealing damage to make it more bearable with some latency, or maybe slightly decreasing their radius. A little bit of change in that would still keep the fight hard enough, without making it too frustrating for people who don't have a perfect internet connection (and their group mates).

Fair enough. I wonder if this is a generational thing. I'm so used to playing games that punish you for even the most tiny of errors.
Here's a list:
Contra for the NES (I remember playing this as a child with a friend. We never really made it past the first level more often than not)
Mario (same concept: memorize or die)
Same with some Mega Man games
Demon Souls
Ninja Gaiden on the PS2
Battletoads
Cave Story's hell level
Feck: have you guys played Tetris?!
Maybe, since I've already dealt with the frustration in those games, that Titan's harsh penalties just seem kind of bland. I grew up playing games with harsher penalties.
I think Cave Story's hell level is a very accurate analogy to Titan Ex.
Was it cheap difficulty? Isn't that subjective? Didn't you stay away from games like this if you didn't like this type of punishing difficulty? If so, why aren't you staying away from Titan?
