I wish the search function wasn't so janky, cause this was where I got my info.He is right unfortunately there was a Dev post saying that is how it is intended and they wont be changing it due to balance or wtv non-sense
There was a Dev post saying even if its part of the accepted bugs it doesn't mean "it is a bug" it just means they've received enough feedback to investigate but as I said there was a follow-up post stating that is how they intended insta-cast abilities
Also, hi Thunderz! Hope AAR is treating you well. ♥

I would love to see teh dev post you mentioned; although I highly doubt it exists. There isn't really any possible way for this to be 'working as intended'. There are two issues associated with this thread - 1 is animation delay - which may very well be working as intended. The 2nd is server latency, which is not.He is right unfortunately there was a Dev post saying that is how it is intended and they wont be changing it due to balance or wtv non-sense

That's a good way to waste mp and generate enimity. There are times a player may have near full health and take a hit that drops them to near death. That cannot be anticipated. And I'm not going to guess and cast benediction on someone with near full health.
This is a first for me, and it happened last night....
used Benediction on myself in PVP, saw the animation and spell go off, but I still died....
Really jaw-dropping moment!

I've saved many more lives with Lustrate than Benediction. :L
I generally react to the "oh shit" moments at the same time, and Lustrate saves them while Benediction ends up healing myself while they die. SICK OF IT QQ
OMG thank you, somebody that agrees, if you can feel the flow of the battle and know what is gonna happen, you can reduce your spell speed times to 0 as you will heal exactly when the person takes damage.
The cracks in the pavement, match the cracks in their weathered skin.
It would be nice if i could cancel my heals when they are near end of cast...
Monster winds up an attack.
Activate damage reduction ability before cast time finishes, ability goes on cooldown.
Monster finishes cast.
Monster begins actual attack animation.
Damage reduction effect kicks in due to animation time.
Monster finishes attack animation.
You take damage as if your damage reduction ability never took effect.
This applies to heals, too, which leads to ridiculous combat log texts.
You recovered 6000 health.
You took 3000 damage.
You are defeated.
It's just the way this game is programmed, unfortunately (and has nothing whatsoever to do with latency). They would have to completely redo the combat code to fix it.
While this applies to most situations, that's not what Benediction is for. It's an "oh shit" button. What happens if you're too busy running from mechanics, or end up out of range from your target because you had to dodge something, and are unable to heal for a few seconds? What if you die, and get ressed just as the other healer goes down, with the tank at 400/6000 hp? Time to cast a Cure 2 in 2 seconds? Nope, not happening *Benediction* "Tank recovered 6000 HP. Tank took 700 dmg. Tank dies" Things like this can not always be anticipated. It's frustrating as hell. In an ideal party that knows what they're doing, Benediction won't even be needed (Except for maybe Titan's mountain buster), it's designed to be the emergency skill when things go wrong.
