After reading 5 of so pages of comments, its nice to see someone who is capable of providing discussion and willing to change his opinion instead of the usual "I'll defend my doomspeech until the very day I die!" sort of dogma we get from angry progression raiders nowadays. Borfin, you're a bro. Grats to you for sticking with the game.
As a person who's played SWTOR since closed beta, I can assure that this game is nowhere near where SWTOR was three months into launch. I've always played FFXIV 1.0 since closed alpha. No matter what happens to this game, and I doubt anything horribad will happen at this rate, it will surely be better than it was in 2010.
(Stupid post limit... *grumbles like an angry lalafell*)

Part 2 (Damn it, fix this post limit plleeease!)
But then again, this is my opinion. I'm not going to go through the long, arduous process of researching subscription numbers and looking at market data. This is my weekend and I'm relaxing today. What matters it that Yoshi-P's team at Square Enix are actively listening. He's still releasing live QAs and communicating with us.
Yoshi-P told us things would get better back in 1.0, and it did. So I don't see why the game won't become even better in the future. So Borfin, I'm glad you're hopping on this amazing train of hope and rainbows with us.
You can edit your post to bypass the post limit.![]()

Idk why people play this game for 8+ hrs a day every day looking for the next item drop that will make their character 0.1% stronger.
You guys must realize that you are playing a pve game focused entirely on instances and gcd with scripts handing u ae ranges on a platter.
Look elsewhere, this game is made for casuals.
You won't find meaningful content in this type of mmo its just not going to happen. Ever. Find something else to do as the mmo model ur looking for doesn't exist anymore.

I'm not an FF fanboy, this is the first FF game I've played since VII. What I'm saying is...
...this. A huge gamble, sunk a ton of money into it, a lot of devs would've stuck or just pulled the plug altogether.
This is essentially a brand new game. SWTOR is used as an example in this thread, heaven knows why because I believe it was/is a terrible game. All it's got is the story & the IP, that's it. FFXIV has a ton of stuff to do. It's going to take time for new stuff to be added, same as with any new mmo, s'all I was saying.

I like that Okun is still a habitual liar.
This isn't a brand new game by any means. Engine is the same, mechanics are the same. Some things were redesigned, but let's be honest, at least 60% of it is just as it was at the time of shut down....this. A huge gamble, sunk a ton of money into it, a lot of devs would've stuck or just pulled the plug altogether.

It cost them less than make a new game from scratch, much less as most of it was already there. And that is WHY you got it back up so fast.
You know, at some point Yoshi said "we answer only to ourselves, we don't have investors to answer to, thus the reason we can do some things with this game other companies cannot" and, well, this makes me wonder what was the rush to release a remake so half cooked then.
You know, this reminds me of how some people sell their used cars for quick profit: they do some light maintenance, try their best to conceal any problems and put it up for sale. When a buyer comes they see a shiny good looking car while seller smiles and tells them everything with the car is perfect, but after a few miles/kilometers one starts noticing that not all is as it was told. That's pretty much the case with this game: people were surprised by how well it played in first month, but then they all reached a point when half baked story is past them, crafting makes no impact on anything BUT unlike any other MMORPG out there takes a lot of time and effort (class switching, constantly pressing 2 buttons) and endgame is practically nonexistant AND hard to engage in for some (Coil is unreachable for many which is okay, but these insane dps wait times for pretty much essential endgame dungeons?) and are wondering "What have we actually been sold? Is it really that good as we thought it was?".
SWTOR at the release was superior to ARR in every way _in terms of content_. You had open world pvp (which was kinda broken but you had it), two huge endgame planets, pvp battlegrounds, 5 hardmode dungeons, 1 raid with 2 difficulty modes and LOADS of well designed single player story content which added a ton of replayability value. There were reasons to group up for questing in that game which are nonexistant in ARR. In today's SWTOR state it's just unreachable for ARR for the next few years at least.

All kinds of MMORPG streams and discussions, hop on and chat

It also had World Bosses as end game content. And NMs as regular content.SWTOR at the release was superior to ARR in every way _in terms of content_. They couldn't do that. Having a game in a series tank, pretty much mean that it's the end for the series....this. A huge gamble, sunk a ton of money into it, a lot of devs would've stuck or just pulled the plug altogether.
