Muling: Let us mail to alts without having them on friend list

While it sucks that they don't have any plans to adjust mailing (and I can see why they won't), you can already work around this by having your own personal FC and having your alts be part of your FC (you'll just need a friend who can invite your alts to the FC) and using company chest to share items. This is why I personally think FCs should be small and personal, while you use linkshells for larger communities.

Of course it'd be nice if they had something like an account-wide retainer...

And then every time I'm leveling my alts, I have to do it by myself without connection to my FC? No, thank you. That is not a viable option. Mailing to my alts is not an issue in any other MMO I've ever played; it shouldn't be an issue here, either.

If you have to use a "work-around" to do a simple task like sending things to your alts.. then the system they have in place is a -BAD- system and should be changed.

I know you're not advocating for them to keep the system the way it is, but in these instances, there shouldn't be compromises. Square needs to learn that it's rule-abiding customers are not the enemy, and i'm getting a little tired of being treated like i'm the problem instead of the RMT crowd who don't seem to be suffering at all if the amount of advertising is any indication.

Last I checked, it was lowered to 1m per character and 100k per retainer.

As someone who experienced the massive inflation that occurred on FFXI due to rampant RMT activity (which caused me to quit playing the game, seioursly had to pay 23 million gil for a Scorpion Harness when the inflation was really bad, and by that time Scorpion Harnesses were quite ubiquitous) I'm glad they're taking this measure to hinder RMT, which is really what they're doing. I'll deal with the inconvenience of using a friend as a go between to send gil if it means that the game economy will be spared. RMTs already have WAY too much control over the game market and this makes it that much harder for them to efficiently f@#$ up the game economy

It doesn't hinder RMT. RMT has the one thing a player needs to get around the mailing restriction: ready access to hundreds, if not thousands, of accounts, making the inability to mail to alts meaningless to them. Regular players don't tend to have more than one account. This does nothing to staunch RMT and only hurts regular players.

What most people don't understand is that everything went up in price, so getting the gil to buy one pre inflation was the same effort as getting one post inflation.

Inflation isn't what ruined the economy; it was the sudden crash after.

How about just auto-adding your alts to your friends list, or mail to your account like in Neverwinter.
