Ever heard of linkshells?
A yes/no/maybe is fine, this isn't a call center so I don't see why you guys have to keep making vague non-answers to our questions.
Why do you need alts to mule? Between your inventory and two retainers, that should be plenty of space. If it isn't, you're a hoarder. You have a problem and the devs shouldn't be catering to you.
Unless you're new to MMORPGs (or just didn't notice), the games of the genre are ever evolving/changing. A decision made previously, might not be the thing that is needed in the future. For example, with the mail to alt concern, if the main reason was RMT, but RMT presence is nearly gone in the future, they'll likely change their stance on it because they know players want it (and it has little detriment to the game with RMT presence removed). Situational responses for situational needs.
Some people like to level alts...(not to mention vanity slots coming) you do realize the devs gave legacy people 8 characters for free, right? Silly that we can't transfer items between them don't you think?
Not being able to mail to one's alts does not affect RMT in the slightest. These are people who have access to more accounts than they know what to do with. They don't give a rat's ass that they can't mail within a single account because they can just mail stuff to one of the hundreds of other accounts they have possession of. Average players, however? Those are the only ones affected by this, as they don't typically have more than one account. Also keep in mind that there are plenty of MMOs out there who do allow free mailing between characters (yes, even without the restriction of having to be on one's friend list), and no one in those mmos is besieged by RMT spam. I honestly think I received an RMT letter once in my five years of playing WoW; I've never gotten one in Rift, nor did I ever receive one in TERA (or Aion, but I can't remember the mailing system in that game). There is literally no benefit in doing this. For example, with the mail to alt concern, if the main reason was RMT, but RMT presence is nearly gone in the future, they'll likely change their stance on it because they know players want it (and it has little detriment to the game with RMT presence removed). Situational responses for situational needs.
If the system in place is to stop gill sellers sending gill/items to players who buy from them ,well it wont work as all they do is add the buyer to there friends list so it's easy got around, why don't you just allow mail to be sent via account characters only as well.
As for leveling alt's I enjoy alt's and I hate the fate only system of leveling up another job on 1 character as I have done all the quests.
I don't know if this has been posted since I didn't read the entire thread but you could:
Step 1: Log on character A and log out inside of an instance (it will appear as online and inside the instance even after you log out)
Step 2: Log on character B and send character A a friend invite.
Step 3: Log on character A and accept the invite
Congratulations you can now mail things to your alts.
Inb4 banned for combating devs' unwillingness to accomodate people with alts. Also, can you guys give me her stuff? She keeps rolling on stuff I want in coil. D;I don't know if this has been posted since I didn't read the entire thread but you could:
