Muling: Let us mail to alts without having them on friend list

For someone leveling a lot of stuff at once I ran out of room quick. I found myself getting rid of lots of stuff I may need later for crafting, because I have no room.

Yep, this is why I haven't bothered leveling alchemy yet. I had to sell all of the stuff I had saved up for alchemy just to make some room and even after that I still have maybe 2/3 a bag of free space?

I think it makes it harder to combat RMT if they can send stuff/gil back and forth.

What's to stop RMT from doing this "creative" way as well? I find no point in it to be honest. If us normal players can figure it out, you know RMT have either already been doing it, or will find out very quickly. So again, I say it's pointless.

I haven't come up with a reason to need an alt yet.

Until I can multi-race and multi-gender, there is still a reason to have at least 5 to 10 characters.

They need to make the game less alt-hostile. No reason the not be able to share UI setup, Macros, Keybinds, Friend lists, Blocked Lists, Achievements, non-soulbound Inventory, and Gil between them.

tl;dr they already told us why they wont let us send mail to our mules, its called RMT.

so you can blame the gold farmers for you not being able to mail yourself stuff between characters.. besides.. get a trustworthy friend and start doing it the old fashioned way or just sell off the stuff. i have all DoH 50 and still manage. you don't need every single kind of material in the game to use all your jobs. you just need to learn to prioritize, otherwise one can be called a pack-rat.


Your given 100 (personal) plus armoury crate (so no equipment in your personal)
175 x 2 for your retainers.. and 40 (2 x 20) in your bazaar that you could overprice if you really needed the space, and an Armoire in your inn room for seasonal stuff.

what more do you really need?

I think what they should do is increase the amount of retainers we can have through some sort of questing or let us buy a pass for each new retainer for some reasonable price.
or they should increase the space on our char by adding space for each class and job and do the same with the retainers.
just my opinion of it but hey the game is still new(no I'm not counting 1.0 as this is a total remake using many of its elements) they will probably come up with new interesting ways.

perhaps new retainers could be some grand company reward to make ranking up worthwhile

It's not just about space.

I want to be able to transfer materials and stuff I collect on one character to another who can make use of it, as I split up the classes I level across different characters. I can't do this without going through a ridiculous workaround that I've never had to deal with in any other MMO. And RMT is not unique to XIV. This restriction is simply unnecessary.

too bad they were thinking very short sighted when they used that poor excuse though.

do you know the workaround to trade to yourself? you pay for another copy of the game and you can log them in at the same time to become friends and then trade freely. do you know what the rmt already have? multiple copies of the game they are using so they are already doing this. in other words the ONLY group it's hindering at all is the legit players with just an alt they are leveling, playing a different race, or using for personal storage. they are not bothering the rmt whatsoever.

People need to stop saying it's about RMT. RMT has nothing to do with it.

Solo RMT and solo players can use the market boards to move items and money to alts. RMT do not work alone so they can avoid the transaction fee losses on the market boards simply by trading items.

No other game has this literally completely pointless restriction which only serves to inconvenience their legitimate players.

I will say I would like a third retainer and I'd be happy. Storing crafting mats really isn't an issue for storage because most of them are so easy to obtain. If I need a certain herb or ore I just go get some. I reserve my space for harder to obtain mats and gear.

Im leveling all the crafting classes atm and still have an unused tab in my first retainer, havent even bought the second one yet.
