You'd probably know more than I do, I just remember reading all of this back in Beta Forums, I wasn't here for 1.0, but I'm guessing you were?
I remember my FC telling me about how Musketeer was supposed to make it in 1.0, which is why it already has a guild in Limsa, but I wouldn't know where to start finding out this info. since I read it all on beta forums. Sorry, I can try and look but I promise nothing XD

Haha. Yeah I've been here since alpha 1.0. The musketeer's guild always caused so many rumors back then, but ever since Tanaka went to XI and Yoshi took over XIV I haven't seen anything official about the job actually making an appearance. Tons of rumors/hearsay just like plenty of other jobs/classes. I was just looking to see if anyone had 'hard evidence' from the Yoshi monster himself.

never, in the beta, they have always said that for now, musketeer is not a priority, that the official statement. we will not see it in the first new class added sorry.

A: We definitely want to add more classes in future patches. For melee classes, I believe scout-type classes are somewhat lacking. By this I mean classes that can move around stealthily and attack from behind or steal items from monsters. The lack of magic classes needs to be addressed as well. We've received requests for ninja and samurai, especially from overseas, but we can't give out any specifics yet. Rest assured that new classes are definitely coming.

about the dark knight it's used by yoshida in an interview when talking about the thing they can do about adding new jobs. there:

Will you make the second jobs very different from their class or first job? For example, the Dark Knight is a very aggressive job and since you seem to want it to become the second Gladiator job (This has never been confirmed but since Yoshi-P always uses it as an example, you never know... ), don't you think Gladiator's abilities are in contradiction with his style?

I see what you mean. We created the system, but we do not necessarily need to follow it all the time. For example, let’s say that the Dark Knight is the second Gladiator job (attention, it is still not a confirmation), when you get its job stone at level 30, all acquired Gladiator skills will certainly be modified to better fit the image of the Dark Knight.

It was just to give an example to explain that we are not going to destroy how players consider different classes / jobs. It could be an interesting way to introduce future classes / jobs. We will consider your concerns on this issue, rest assured.

people a mixing a lot of information a bit like some was thinking pvp and housing was meant to be there at the release... when is not.

ps: a lot of information from the beta have been loose, it's sad but true...
pss: you will not that while the live letter 5, he didn't talk of the musketeer because actually ranged class are not the priority.

Like you Marik, I'm really wanting Thief. Especially to have a stealing ability and a TH trait. I would absolutely love this.

About Musketeer, this is just speculation, but I would say the 'near omission' of it by Yoshida-san in discussion would mean one of two things:

1. The class/job is ready for release, and they are just waiting for an opportune time.
2. The class/job is never coming.

He and the entire development team knows how bad people want that class/job, I assure you. However, he always dances around Musketeer when it is brought up, not really saying anything about it at all. I'm sure it's most likely #1; but if it were #2, I would dodge it every time it was brought up too. I wouldn't want to be the one bearing that bad news; considering how 'in demand' it has been since pre-release of 1.0

And while we're at it, I want Dancer back :3
