It is similar elements. WoW is quite different from FF14. You just really love 11. I understand that, but I'm not going to pretend that, hotbars, tiered progression, and instanced dungeons haven't become a mainstay of the genre. They make sense to be part of games now, It's not that WoW is characteristic of what MMO's are, it's just that when systems WoW has put in (even ones borrowed from earlier MMO's) get compared to another games for being a clone ish sort of kind of thing.(Once again that makes very little sense), it's just kind of funny.

What do we have that is solely something WoW uses? Hotba- No wait this was a good idea, FA- No wait this is more GW2/Rift, Tiered progression? Yeah well we are only in launch it's not like they could ever... add something later, Animation style? No those are completely different if anything this is anime styled, Dungeon style? Nah WoW dungeons are more of a zergfest... Resources...? I guess we have mana like every RPG, we also have TP , you could say that's similar to energy but they're completely different..

Loot style? No wait we don't loot monsters... Money? No wait.. We only have one static monetary system, WoW has money pieces... Fight style? Nah I'd say WoW's might be a bit quicker paced..

Well you played FF 11.... Maybe it's the press a single button for a skill that upsets you. That's pretty similar to WoW.. and many other RPG's. Not just MMO's either.

Oh well I guess in both games you can use wasd to move.
