I managed to fix that by disconnecting everything but the PS3 (or PC if you are on PC) from the wireless modem and let the internet connection focus only on FFXIV.
Now I have 1/2, 1 second lag, and a relic
Indeed. Many people are quick to push the blame to SE, not possible to be on their end at all. Bunch of armchair net admins out there. One example. I've played on a 1.5Mb/s connection. If no one is using it, no issues at all. However, obviously, if someone downloads at the max it screws with me right? Well when I capped them at half the speed, it still screws with me when it starts, so if they're web surfing alot, the connection spikes up alot, messing with the latency for me. But if it's a static download using half, no issues once it sits there stable at half the connection, only when it starts. And there are many more things that could cause the issue as well, but people always dismiss and blame SE anyways.
