Monks damage is pretty ass even when you're doing it right. Most of our skills strike with a shitty potency with or without position bonuses; Dragon kick being the best example. 100potency (150 in position). Even with the increase in skill speed It doesn't make up for the massive difference in damage. Dragoon and Warrior skills have potency's in the upper 200's to 300 range while monks have nothing above 180. My 50 warrior EASILY does more damage than my monk (Without defiance active) and with the added ability to deal MASSIVE burst damage with berserk.
LETS BE REAL; MONK NEEDS A BUFF
This is what I believe MNKs need:
- Your Coeurl weaponskill immediately grants you the highest level Greased Lightning depending on your traits (like Aetherflow for Summoners) OR you lose GL stacks one at a time every 12s instead of all at a time.
- Switch MRD out for ARC as a x-class option like MNK's were originally designed for. Bootshine and Internal Release means Monks were designed to be a crit class, we need Bloodletter and Misery's End. No, Mercy Stroke doesn't do it because it's on a 1.5 minute cooldown vs. Misery's 12 second cooldown.
- Shoulder Tackle's stun should be removed, min range requirement removed, and cooldown be lowered to ~10s or so.

The fact we are the only the only pure melee dps class, our gap closer is on a huge cooldown which quite honestly cant fathom why and we have to much positional requirements for our skills.
Either other classes need nerfing or we need buffing, I would prefer the latter.

In almost full DL I have a ~2.05 second GCD on my abilities. In fact, that's one of the things greased lightning does, 7% damage and 5% attack speed per stack. C'mon people, read your skills. :/sorry we are not playing the same game. all our skill is at least 2.5 sec recast time. I don't see we attack faster than other class. Almost the same.
right now game favor ranged DPS too much. Range itself is a big advantage. In most game range class has very low defense and low HP disadvantage, but not in this game. Not only that, why melee class should care position but ranged DPS not? Job balance is completed failed.
I agree with the guys who written down that the MNK DPS is fine but i also think that the MNK need 1-2 buffs.
1 Suggestion sound fine, that should tackle will grant 1 GL stack after charge and dont stun anymore, cooldown reduced to 30.
The other suggestion is to improve the running time of GL to 30... think thats bit to much 20 seconds should be enough.
Iam sure that the MNK is the strongest DPS if he stays the whole time at the enemy. Nevermind, cause of the lag(?) its hard to deal damage while running and striking the enemys at the same time so the increased duration of greased lightning to 20 seconds would be very helpful. 12 seconds are fast over and it still need ~6 seconds alone with 3 GL stacks to renew it. With 20 seconds you have much more room for additional priorities.

Kind of wish we had a slightly more efficient and powerful AoE rotation, Arm of the Destroyer and Rockbreaker drain your TP so fast it's not even funny, while dealing low-mediocre damage at best. Howling Fist can be fairly useful, but only if targets line up or clump up conveniently enough to hit them with the narrow cone. Compared to Dragoon's Dragonfire Dive which hits much harder and everything in a circle around the Dragoon. But I don't really mind the slightly low damage of MNKs AoE, just the absurd TP costs on our AoE attacks.
Dragonfire Dive is also on a 3 minute cooldown, so there's that. Our other cone/AoE abilities, Doom Spike and Ring of Thorns, have 160/120 TP requirements respectively. Doom Spike isn't that bad due to the 160 potency, but is far from spammable due to the TP cost. I haven't played monk since the beta and I am a little surprised that greased lightning is still 12 seconds. Friends tell me all the time how frustrating it when a primal jumps and they lose their buff. I think it would be great to see this buffed possibly up to 20 secs.
