Good answer. I agree. I dont know other people say about "monk is a very good dps". He is very weak in solo combat, he has no any good AoE, he has no any long range skill (even lancer has) and his skills are very unbalanced. Monk is a weakest for not and it is a factMonk is weakest DPS. I completely agree. No group looking for monk, that's very sad. it is noting to do with your skill, rotation, or gear what ever. It is very logical and printed on the paper.

1. We have the lowest potency on our skills because we have a lower GCD.
2. A 2 second GCD isn't faster than a 2.5 GCD? Every 5th attack is a free GCD that every other class doesn't get.
3. True. Though you -can- start a fight with Perfect Balance and just SPx3 for full GL stacks, but I don't really think that's optimal.
4. It's a trade off vs. DRG. They have more PDEF, we have more MDEF, WAR/PLD have more of both because they're tanks. Also, unavoidable damage aside, you shouldn't be getting hit by anything, so defense becomes a non-issue(not that this is even an issue...)
People need to start realizing that many smaller, fast hits, still add up to the same amount as a bigger, more infrequent one.
They need to increase the buff duration on GL stacks for sure. Or, if they are going to continue to make fights so melee unfriendly(which is very likely, if the industry is any indication), some other way to conserve them. A ranged chakra attack, with a medium cool down(30 seconds) that applies GL. Alternatively, just give me a 1 minute CD, let's call it Meditation, where I can hit it and stop my stacks from dropping off, up to x seconds for those pesky primal disconnects.

The thing I hate about parsers is...they mean absolutely nothing. Most fights don't start "mattering" till about 80% in, and only really "must be at top tier" below 50%.
Sadly it is true that the last 50% are at many times against the Mnk (but not always). Drgs just burst better and that seems to matter a lot end game.
Still I don't find anything wrong with Mnk in general. They're all manual, and you gotta play it like a manual. Pain in the rear, but they can produce really well when they're in the zone.
I don't find keeping up grease that much an issue, it's always been the lack of range. should tackle is still crappy even if reduced CD. It needs to take away the 10y restriction. Going away 10y is very rare. By the time the boss "drops" you are already running in usually within 10y. So you have to go back and forth.
The problem is that mnks GCD so fast, they can't stack, and waste it. it's really a pain inthe rear to spend so much time on what is suppose to be off-gcd skills.
Too much false information floating around. People saying that "MNKs suxorz in Coil" yet still are using their non-finished Relic weapon when you need to have finished your Relic weapon questline in order to get keyed for Coil.
Don't listen to the liars.
It's not to say MNKs are without any issue, but they're incredibly gear-dependent to dish-out good DPS (I have about 6 pieces of DL gear including chest and pants and all jewelry and my Relic weapon) and I dish-out the same DPS as a DRG with a relic weapon but with full AK/1-2 DL pieces.
We definitely need some love as other people have suggested but it's not as bad as people make it sound.
TBH, DRGs are currently the most useless class in the game because at least we have Mantra and a Silence that can be utilized in Coil. DRGs are absolutely worthless: no party syngergy; their Jumps are a non-factor; and they are out-DPS'd by every class (even us) if played correctly.
Monks aren't as bad in some ways as people make them out to be, but I think that Dragoons will be happy to take credit for 10-15% of Bard DPS.

right now game favor ranged DPS too much. Range itself is a big advantage. In most game range class has very low defense and low HP disadvantage, but not in this game. Not only that, why melee class should care position but ranged DPS not? Job balance is completed failed.
The rumor I heard is they will buffer monk next patch. But not sure the rumor is truth or not.

Well im not sure if i want share my secret :P But something what i can say positioning and hitting skills from right spots and keeping up buffs (lightning and twin snakes).

Just spent time learning your class and doing rotations and figuring out whats best for yourself. In this game its extremely hard to do great dps all the time. Not because it's not doable... Simply because of how the fight mechanics behave: we don't have the time so sit on Titan to dish out 200+ DPS even getting your rotation "perfect."
We shine (we really do) at Tank'n'Spank bosses, like the last boss of AK, which I believe should be used as a benchmark for MNK DPS.
And on that boss, 200+ DPS is totally do-able. 220+ is only doable if you BiS for every piece of gear you have as well as a ranged BLM/BRD taking care of the spawn while you focus on the boss.
But MNKs are the #1 class that needs the most changes (and people have already mentioned some great ones: Should Tackle should give a GL stack, not stun - reduce the CD as well; increase buff of GL to 15 seconds in order to accommodate those "lapses" in DPS where the boss goes in ranged mode/we have to run around/tank is moving mob around; etc).
