The problem with the ifriti fight is that you have to run so god damn many times. I am sick and tired of running it for a weapon that i never seen drop to just stun every time....... it is the most boring fight i have even been forced to do and if you want the weapon you are forced to do it.
[QUOTE=Zfz;1267813]As a tank (not that I'm there yet but I've been tanking for years since WoW) I don't mind that job. Every class will eventually get shafted in one of the encounters, it's just our turn first.[QUOTE]
This is the best reply in this whole thread, I come from wow as well and just as Zfz states "Every class will eventually get shafted in one of the encounters," and that's the truth. So be it that the first one Is paladin, There will be more exactly like this but with another class in the position. Its just our position as a pally in the fight. GET OVER IT. Jesus Christ.
This is the thing that kills me, there are far too many people that just assume when an eruption goes off that it's the PLD on stun duty's fault. Even if the dps know not to use their stun, there's still a chance for an eruption to go off with only one person that's just focusing on stuns.
I don't mind the fight necessarily, I just really hate the childish people that call others out when something goes wrong during the fight. It's one thing to tell them what they did wrong, but it's not necessary to try and make them feel bad.
I am so sick and tired of shoving my shield up Ifrit's ass its ridiculous... 22 runs and 0 pld swords. I have seen at least two of every class drop already. SMN and SCH books are dropping like freaking candy.
I do have to say though, i would much rather stunbot and have about an 85% success rate with pugs then to put the fight into someone else's hands for a different mechanic. Of the few runs that did fail it was either due to pugs not getting out of things like charge or there was no BLK/SMN to aoe the nails and the ST dps just sucked.
I still have to gear the rest of my FC when they start going through this. So even when i do get my sword ill be shoving me shield up Ifrit's ass for the next two weeks regardless.
Correct me if I'm wrong; Diminishing Returns is not a hard "stun x number of times within x number of seconds and it will be resisted" but rather a "for every time you stun the % chance of resist goes up" right?
When I first started running Ifrit HM I got raged at for missing interrupts but I swear at least a few of my "misses" were resists. Stun would go on CD and while it was hard to see through all the spell effects I remember seeing the "fully resisted" prompt.

60 plus runs and have NEVER seen the thing drop, i would love to know the number system they have, as you said i see more blk/smn, monk, scholar drop more then anything. I think something is broken.I am so sick and tired of shoving my shield up Ifrit's ass its ridiculous... 22 runs and 0 pld swords. I have seen at least two of every class drop already. Opinion; wrong; wrong; and more opinion. Not that I would disagree with a rework, as I think the current setup is a little silly, but I don't think it's *needed*. As every PLD blamed for missing a stun he didn't miss will attest, other classes have plenty of stuns. Not that you even need to stun, honestly. Heck, in 1.0 it wasn't possible to stun, and we got by with dodging. And I've seen plenty of groups succeed with no AOE Limit Break, and it wasn't by using the Tank Limit Break, either. You single-target LB the first nail, burn two, LB+burn the fourth nail. There's plenty of time to accomplish that, trust me. And honestly, I've seen groups manage to struggle even when the PLD on stun duty was doing admirably. There's no helping some people.Ifrit HM needs to be reworked entirely. If you don't have a PLD to stun Eruption, you lose. If you don't have a BLM or SMN to Limit Break the Nails, you lose. It's just stupid, and honestly skill plays very little part in the whole run. All it is, is "Can you press this one button at the right time? Then you win." If they got rid of the required interrupt and instead added more of those Crimson Path dash attacks or something it would make for a far more interesting fight. Heaping all the responsibility on one/two players is poor design.
It's why WAR is always "relegated" to MT role on HM Ifrit, because our stun doesn't CD before the pattern comes around to another Eruption. It's also why people join HM Ifrit, look at each other, and if there isn't a PLD in the party everyone just leaves. I'm all for utility here and WAR is much less utility than PLD because our stun is such garbage compared to theirs.
The Hydra has a 2-tank mechanic where both tanks stack on each other to split Triumvirate's damage. That's a mechanic borrowed straight out of WoW. So it's not as if they don't know about 2-tank mechanics. What they do with the 2-tanks paradigm is I guess up to them to figure out. Squenix seems pretty set on the endgame 8-man encounters all being 2-tank, 2-healer dungeons at any rate.It is not stressful at all. Thats the problem. Its utterly boring and uninteresting and its basically SE way to say: "We know these fights are fine with 1 tank but df needs 2 tanks so here we go".
I mean its fine on ifrit since there is a predictable pattern so at least but since the stun is on gcd if there is no real pattern you basically just autoattack for a fight. Woohooo.
I don't mind stuff like this now and then but 2 tank content so far is utterly shit for one tank always.
There is a reason why most wow 2 tank fights have mechanics that require tank switch or just come with 2 tankable stuff at once.

Im with you on this one, People relay on a Pld to stun the eruption so they wont have to move. The best part if Ifrit casts it to often you get DR and they blame you.
