So, technically you haven't lost any time then. You sitting at the computer mashing the "0" key to try and get in--knowing that they're having these issues is your choice.
If you want to demand something more than what you've been given and SE replies with a picture of Yoshi giving you the middle finger and flat out telling you "No, not gonna happen, quit whining," I believe you can complain at that point.

See this guy lets nothing get in the way of his stupidity. You paid for 30 days of service. If you don't get 30 days of service you didn't get what you paid for.

You paid for the game. Not 30 days of service. The 30 days was given to you. If you look on your account page, it says "30 days trial period."

This is a gift to you. You lost a week so far(barring early access, which was also a bonus for pre-ordering. I've seen so many people saying they paid for early access, it drives me crazy) and they're giving you another week of free trial period. Do you not understand what that means? That still means you're not paying for any game time until that trial period is over! Huzzah! -- Wait, do people still not understand that?

You are incorrect. The 30 days of service is not 'given' to me if I receive it only for purchasing a game. In addition, since the game CANNOT BE USED AT ALL without the 'service,' how could the service NOT be included? Are you claiming I paid for a FFXIV paperweight? Preposterous philosophy guy. Go somewhere with tired line of total BS.

I don't really know where to begin with this one. My other post should point out the fallacies in your statement.

The summarize though, it's not a gift. It is part of the initial product and is only offered for marketing purposes. It is a promise made to the consumer upon purchase of the game that said consumer will be given 30 days of access to the game, prior to the requirement of additional payments for continued use. The ToS that accompanies this game does allow for the game to be inaccessible for certain periods of time; however, this clause will only support a few hours or a couple of days. No court in the US will side with the company if the products cannot be accessed for over a week. This time frame includes early access, as this was also part of the promise made to the consumer upon pre-order of the product.

By giving players an extra 7 days, SE is making efforts to avoid legal action. It is not accepting responsibility for the problems that have occurred this past week.

Okay this is me chiming in.

In My opinion you should feel entitled to and expect additional game time added to your account for every day the game has the severe login troubles it currently has. I think this should be regardless if you were able to log in or not. I fully expect this myself and do not think it to be out of line. I think Square-Enix will do this.

Login issues can be very frustrating and tempers run very high when you feel denied what you think you rightly deserve. That being said I do not think you are entitled to a free month. Sorry that's not how any business works. Would it be nice to offer that to everyone? Yes. Would it help the PR of the game? Undoubtedly. In fact if I was the marketing guy I would be pushing the crap outta giving current active accounts a free month. It's costly sure but the I would argue the benefits and positive pr would greatly outweigh the cost.

That being said You should feel entitled to only the time lost. That's it. To be screaming for more makes you sound like a child throwing a tantrum. The world does not work that way and you should not expect it to.

While I find the login trouble excessively frustrating The time I have been able to play has been some of the most enjoyable I have seen from an mmo since first discovering Warcraft so many years ago. This was just me playing solo.

Square-Enix's Communication on fixes has been the best I have seen from a company. Their turn around time for those fixes not so much though. That being said 6-7 days to apply a fix as complicated as adding additional servers is not terrible. Although I understand why they prioritized new servers over anti-afk features I do not necessarily agree with it. I believe the afk players staying logged into the worlds to avoid the login issues are making the issue infinitely worse. This is why I chose not to do it myself. It may mean I don't get to play (in fact that's exactly what it means) but I will not add to the problem and prevent someone else from playing while I am not playing.

By week 2 most of these issues will be fixed I think. The additional servers will allow new players on and current players somewhere to play but won't fix the currently full worlds (might help a little but the afk players is the issue there) so I don't expect the additional servers to fix my ability to play the character I have invested time in. Maybe they will surprise me and allow free character transfers on Wednesday (This will fix the issue temporarily) or better yet implement a anti-afk feature on that day as well.

That's my rambling about it :-P
