The idea that Square Enix should give us the bare minimum of days lost due to server issues isn't how things like this are done. It's bad customer service. If you order a meal at a restaurant and it is wrong, they usually don't JUST try again and leave it at that. They comp your meal, offer a free desert, they do something to try to compensate for the frustration and inconvenience you've experienced.
I had a good friend who is in the Air Force come down, along with another who away at college. We were going to get together like old times and play Final Fantasy XIV. We were able to play a couple hours during the course of the weekend. Simply giving me the free days I basically couldn't play isn't going to change the fact that I wasn't able to spend time with my friends who are away as we wanted to. And regardless, like I said, it's simply not how you do things.
I like the game, and I want to keep playing, but I think some of you calling those who aren't satisfied with 7 free days whiners and entitled need to come off your high horses. I just want Square Enix to show that it is upset enough with the launch of this game and cares about their fans enough that they will do more than the absolute, bare minimum.

I cant agree more. Life can be demanding but once i have things taken care of i should be able to spend my time however i please. I payed to play this game not sit around clickin log in only to never log in. Compensation for my wasted time, potential character advancement, frustration, and my EA time all seem legit to me. Im in shape, have the day off, took care of errands, did laundry and dishes so i dont wanna go hear "go do something it'll be good for you". psh end rant
This is my 2 cents. SE is not a new company. They are not new to this MMORPG business. FFXI has been on going for... 10 years now? FFXIV was initially launched 3 years ago. Which is when I started to play. Game was so glitchy in 1.0 we actually end up playing for free for almost 2 years. And they decided that game need to be scrapped and revamped. They did that. Then they launch the beta for 2.0, how long did we test it?.. 4 months total? So, in my eye, this game has been essentially been in test run for 3 years now. They heavily advertised 2.0. There was a lot of hype about it. They even finally release the game on PS3, which i'm sure added to the amount of players playing the game. I know a lot of people from FFXI that were waiting for PS3 launch to play this game. Now, they also advertised and enticed people to pre-order the games and have early access. Which means, they have some idea of how many people are going to play this game. After all, i'm sure they get report of the status of pre-order sales. I don't know of any game, that you purchase and pay to play, that does not come with 30 days of free trial. Hell even FFXI came with free 30 days going back 8-9 years ago. It is practically expected. When you are selling a product, you are promising the consumer they will be able to enjoy the product when ever they'll like. When you are selling a game to a customer with promise of early access... that is exactly what customer should get. I saw someone said oh they sold you the game with 30 day trial so they get a chance to fix the game. That is not true. In my opinion, you should NEVER sell a defective product to a customer. And to me, this is a defective product. You can not sell something to someone and say yeah, sale people promised you all this stuff but really, it only partly works and we'll be fixing it soon though. That is not how this works. I'm not saying I expected the game to be perfect and with out any glitch. They did just launch it after all. However, I expected, at the least, to be able to log into the game. I honestly got to log into the game to play twice since the launch. And it wasn't my lack of trying to log. I've tried for hours every day. Every 15-30 min see if there's opening. I got to log in for the game first time after launch, Wed night around... 12:30am. than I got kicked out of the server like 5 min into it. i didn't even get out of my mog house. Than thusday-friday around 12mid night, i think I logged in for about 30 min... and it crashed. I actually had to log into the game very early friday morning... and went afk and went work. and I was still logged in after work and I was able to finally played for 3-4 hours... before server crashed. Than I couldn't log in again... until this morning. I played for about an hour before I got kicked out of the game... and haven't been able to log back in. At least I am not a brand new player. So, even if I lost that early excess, my jobs are already advanced. I'm trying to do the quests. But people who are new, they have lost that edge they would have gained. I have friends crossing over from ffxi, aren't able to create characters because of the restriction. THEY have lost the advantage they could have gained by early access.. extending a free trial period will not fix that. At this point, I don't know extending free trial will compensate for lost of time trying to even log in to the game and frustration it's causing. And I am very sure they will loose lots of loyal players as well as new players over this. I would think SE has really lost credibilities and reputations over this. This was extremely sloppy launch. Most of us, Im sure, expected more... we are talking about FF franchise game, after all. It has been, very disappointing. At least for me.
