    Self-entitlement for everyone!

The game came with 30 days(as part of the cost paying for the game). Since launch it's been 6 days and they've already extended the trial period a full week. They haven't considered it. They flat out said they're doing it. You're not losing a month. They don't owe you a month on top of that. And seeing as to how they've already increased the trial period as an apology, who knows what else they might do? They know they need to make right by the players and have stated the issues they're having and admitted to their short-comings, especially after the 1.0 nonsense.

Being locked out of the game can be frustrating, yes. Step away from the computer for a moment and find something else to do for a bit. It helps!

Stamping your feet and demanding satisfaction doesn't change the problems at hand. They're working on the problems, a solution(hopefully) will be in place sometime tomorrow after maintenance. That's what they've been talking about for a few days now.

+2 days early access, +2 days since the 'fix' isn't coming until Wednesday, +2858729587638 days since you can bet your last dollar they won't have it fixed yet.

    Disingenuous excuses

Square Enix is a multi-million dollar transnational corporation who employs mainly brilliant individuals. Particularly in light of the issues experienced during Beta testing, SE was fully cognizant that all of these problems were occurring and would continue to occur. They were unwilling to do they right thing and delay the launch. Following launch, the issues simply compounded. SE knew the influx of thousands more players to already overwhelmed servers would result in just such problems as we now experience. The unwillingness or inability of SE to kick idle players is unconscionable. PS3 users, who are forced to pay more initially bear the brunt of hundreds of PC users running their computers endlessly, an activity that would damage a PS3 motor. Anyone inactive for more than an hour should be immediately removed from the server. In addition to not being able to play a RELEASED video game, the assurances by SE made regarding early access, etc. are enough for consumers to feel cheated. SE did not meet their obligation to consumers and continue to fail to do so. SE is obligated to compensate those consumers for the time and trouble they have experienced due to SE's faulty assurances. This is a purchased product. It must work, or the consumer must be made whole, period. Video games are specifically manufactured for the convenient enjoyment of people. While the game is admittedly spectacular, the experience so far can be described as neither convenient nor enjoyable. While people have been putting up with this garbage for a couple weeks, it will soon get extremely tiring, and SE will lose more potential subscriptions than they already have. Anyone defending SE's position knows nothing about business. Don't take my money for a service you don't plan to provide. Everyone who paid for the game paid for working service as well.

Indeed. People spend their money on objects or things that make them feel good. I would not want to buy something and have it broken when I get home. I wouldnt buy anything if I didnt think I would enjoy having it. If I don't have a good feeling about the thing I spend my money on, I don't buy it. So from the start of FF14 1.0 I've been disappointed, and I regret spending the money to buy the game so far.
I agree with you, and SE needs to take some accountability and make the players feel good about it.

The idea that Square Enix should give us the bare minimum of days lost due to server issues isn't how things like this are done. It's bad customer service. If you order a meal at a restaurant and it is wrong, they usually don't JUST try again and leave it at that. They comp your meal, offer a free desert, they do something to try to compensate for the frustration and inconvenience you've experienced.

I had a good friend who is in the Air Force come down, along with another who away at college. We were going to get together like old times and play Final Fantasy XIV. We were able to play a couple hours during the course of the weekend. Simply giving me the free days I basically couldn't play isn't going to change the fact that I wasn't able to spend time with my friends who are away as we wanted to. And regardless, like I said, it's simply not how you do things.

I like the game, and I want to keep playing, but I think some of you calling those who aren't satisfied with 7 free days whiners and entitled need to come off your high horses. I just want Square Enix to show that it is upset enough with the launch of this game and cares about their fans enough that they will do more than the absolute, bare minimum.
