Another thing they could do is restart the servers once and a while, would kick the afk until they can find a better way to fix their problem.

That's what NCsoft did at Lineage 2 launch. Of course, by the time they launched AION, they realized that queues and kicking for afk were standard required technologies, so they were available at launch. It is surprising that S-E, now launching their third MMO, would not have anticipated this.

The login and character creation restrictions have already resulted in two of my friends deciding not to purchase. There were about 30 of us intending to play together, but many will not purchase if they are not allowed to play with their friends. The character creation lockout is a very bad idea.

The problem with this statement is that it is still is a common occurrence in today MMO, despite it happening 10 years ago. So the act of thinking it still shouldn't be happening today vs. it does still happen today doesn't match up.

Honestly I kinda hope all those impatient people jump ship. There the whiny ones who will just ruin the in game experience anyway. Let them game fall back to a small market like during the rebuild of 1.0... the community was much more patient and nice then anyway.

What a positive attitude you have towards others who expect to get something they paid for. I bet you think we're all "entitled brats" too. You're right, nobody should ever expect to play the game even though the servers are up. Everyone should have to win a virtual lottery to play. 1 in 1000 wins! Will it be you?!

If player numbers plummeted to those lows the game will close, don't kid yourself otherwise .. yes, my Legacy status shows I want this game to succeed but right now I'm terrified it's going to tank as, beyond the walls of the SE fan club the general view on the internet seems to be right now "great game, shame about the total failure of the servers to run it".

People may be over reacting but SE should have had the foresight to test the NA/EU servers prior to EA.... I have little sympathy for bad business decisions.

they spent all the legacy monies on designing the game, then dropped the bomb that no cash for servers, now were running on rehashed V1+ffxi old hasbeens it seems

The year 2078... aliens land on earth, they try again and again to log in to FFXIV to understand the experience humans once called entertainment, but keep getting the message the servers are full. Finally they get on to the server with the one person who actually logged off. There are characters standing around everywhere, some with flashy titles and free company tags. No one is moving. The aliens take turns playing until they realize this was intended to be game that involved grouping. Alien heads then explode with this realization.

first off I find it utterly Pathetic that I am limited to 3 posts per day, and second I find it utterly pathetic that they cant RESTART the servers and kick the gold farmers and idlers, UNLESS the gold farmers actually work for SE which going on past performance with asian games wouldnt surprise me. NCSOFT is famous for having its own gold farming company

Please think about adding some additional fixes, i.e. auto-disconnect and longer queues; leaving the situation as it is will just result in a second failed launch on the NA/EU markets. We are a lot less patient than some other markets, and a bad launch (to most) is a bad game. If you can't do anything to fix the problem today, please at least let us know that a fix is coming, and when.

Bandaids, what they need to do is upgrade their servers to handle the traffic without crashing

No clue as to why they'd limit your posts. They sound like genius.
