But knowing this, do you really think they're worth wasting your time replying to? Pfft, in the heydays when we used to go at each other, we both gave better arguments than that. And I was 75% trolling! lol

Look, you know the game may fail. I know the game may fail. We all know that. But from what I've seen, the game should do fine. That's a guess (not a prediction, a guess) made by me based on what I know about the game so far. Some people think that because the game isn't bringing 12,000 new things to the table (and yes, that's an exaggeration, just pointing that out before Captain Obvious shows up, lol) that the game may be destined to fail. I think that's silly. IMO, it's not if everything's "new" or "revolutionary" that's going to make this game a success or failure. It's whether or not the features being brought to the table are liked and welcomed. And so far, there really haven't been a lot of people complaining about them.

In the end, until the game is released and we've all had enough time to see how the game will do in the long run, we're really all just shooting in the dark. Right now, we can only judge based on what we've seen so far. What I've seen so far has me pumped. Some people, not so much. But then again, you have to wonder what they're doing on the forums of a game they believe will be a colossal failure. But let's not go there. lol
    I... think I love you

Dude's not very smart and is talking straight out of the wrong orifice.

"why going out of your way to replace Final Fantasy XI?"

Well, because every online game, no matter how good, gets old. If you expect subscribers of Final Fantasy XI not to drop five years from now, your brain harbors delusions as big as a Zeppelin.

"but Blizzard is not replacing world of warcaft durrrr!"

1: Yes they are. Google "Blizzard Titan". At least check your facts before pretending to teach people with a ton more experience than you have "what works and what doesn't", you'll avoid looking more of a fool than you already do.

2: World of Warcraft is considerably newer than Final Fantasy XI, and so is its engine, that also isn't held back by the PS2 and Xbox 360.

3: World of Warcraft has a MUCH larger leeway in term of subscribers. Even if it starts dipping it'll take a much longer time for it to lose its profitability edge.

Talk about comparing apples to escalators. 20 minutes of my life wasted on someone that doesn't hold the slightest idea of what he's talking about.

Oh, by the way, as an urelated note Wada reiterated once again during the live letter that nothing's going to change for A Realm Reborn.

lol I usually watch the guy because he can be funny sometimes (though often he does try way too hard). But I usually take what he has to say with a grain of salt. Your thoughts on this subject echo my own, Abriael. The way this guy talks, I wouldn't be surprised if he compared ARR's sub numbers at release to WoW's current sub numbers and used it as a "reference" to state why ARR is failing. Just don't take what he says to heart. The guy seems to know as much about how to "fix" Squeenix as he does about how to shave and cut his hair. ^^

You should watch some of his videos. When you're not taking most of what he says seriously, he can actually be quite entertaining.

I think he sounds clueful about some SE stuff ("Duke Nukem Forever" projects, Tomb Raider unrealistic expectations, KH3?, JP-only, etc.). But I won't be recommending it because of 2 things: 1: way too much F-rage to take seriously, and 2:not a clue about FFXI/XIV.

He said he tore through Tomb Raider in 2 days. Maybe he played FFXI for a similarly short time before declaring it "done" and moving on. I dunno. Most people I know have long since quit FFXI and are looking forward to something fresh & modern in XIV.

He has some valid points, but it is mostly gamer-rage. He also doesn't understand how economics, business and marketing intersect.

For a company like SE it should be really easy to gather tons of money but they just don't want to see it, they must go their own way and it cost them dear.

Looking at what works and what doesn't is the perfect solution, unless its already to late.

Really? Easy? Care to submit a business plan? Maybe you'll be the next CEO.

InB4 "Just do a remake of FFVII, it's that simple!" lol

But in all seriousness, if anything I've learned about the ups and downs of working in and/or running a game developing/publishing company is any indication, the words "really easy" should not come into play here. It's a lot more complicated than some people may think. What you think might sell very well could bomb. What you think could be a good move for the company could be a bad one. Heck, even listening to your customers can easily backfire, as many of them don't really know what they want. For these people, giving them what they ask for can be a risky and borderline stupid endeavor.

I dunno. I've often dreamed about making games for Squeenix, Bioware, Obsidian and the like. But at times... well... I'm just not sure I'd be able to stand the headache.

Oh, by the way. The topic of this thread is actually ridiculous "ARR incert future?"

Welcome to the world of reality mate, where ANY and EVERY MMORPG (or actually any and every game) has an "incert future".

Mind you, that's if "Incert" actually means "uncertain", since "Incert" is not a word.
