Not sure if you're talking about players or Blizzard. Blizzard has been opposed to housing because they believe it isolates the player from game world, and thus makes for a lonelier experience for players. They want new players to see cities that are alive and worlds that have people in them to prevent psychological issues of a dead game that can occur when you're in a game.

I don't agree with their position but to say they find it pointless, stupid, or dumb, would be a fraudulent statement.

One hand: I was upset that Tanaka left SE as he had alot to offer. (Seeing has he moved to a different company, that proves my point.) I don't know much about Wada-san's capabilities or who he is outside of Live letters. But that isn't his fault as Yoshi-P points out, he is probably the first SE personnel to be so involved with the consumer base. Wada is old-school like Tanaka and isn't used to this kind of media attention. I hope Wada stays and becomes more active. Perhaps as a mediator for old-school JP Onry cliches to help them integrate into new age things.

Other Hand: Who is this new President? I know we said the same thing when Yoshi-P stepped into his role. We were astonished and almost insulted when He was taking over. Well I was at the very least hurt at the idea that a long time Bastion of Final Fantasy was being stepped down and a new comer (not really new, but how many people honestly knew him?) But now, I can honestly say, I have heart strings for Yoshi. He's like that uncle who comes and visits you in the hospital while your mom is at work and brings you toys and stuff he isn't suppose to. (Thanks for that Uncle Yoshi)

So what I am trying to say is. Wada was like a Pop to me (Grandfather), who represents those good old days. (Back in my day, we had to grind hours for experience, not run around and /emote at npcs for it.)

I don't know who you are Yosuke Matsuda, but I am looking forward to learning more about you. You are a key figure in SE. So take a page out of Uncle Yoshi's playbook and be more transparent and lenient on how you deal with us. JP Onry cripples us. We are all fans. Help make that a reality. (IE: International Game releases, contests and prizes. so on and so forth.)

No, I am not uncertain, at least not up until launch. Once the game releases only time will tell. They will not scrap a project with this many resources pumped into it without trying to recoup the loss.

    For me personally its obvious..

Thousands of spin-offs, sequels, prequel game productions on hundreds of different plattforms..

I mean just look at Kingdom Hearts, 9 games have been released with just 2 main titles in a total... and on 6 different plattforms! (mobile phone - no ios smartphone, psp, NDS, Playstation 2, Gameboy Advanced, N3DS) i mean how can you even more destroy a gaming brand much more?

Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy XIII-3... which person wanted to have that many or even one sequel to this Final Fantasy title?

They want to cater too many constructions sites. "we want to concentrate us on the mobile phone market, it offers so many possibilities".
Yeah SE even opened a Game Streaming site (called "CoreOnline").. and nobody knows about it.

sometimes its better to focus on quallity and not on quantity SE!

hah... i'd love to see a final fantasy with that "cuddly" and cute character design of Final Fantasy 7 or even FF9... with not that many cutscenes, camera pans, linearity and more heart into the development...

but that'll never hapen again. its like capcom with Resident evil .. they think we need action, action... a movie alike blockbuster game

    FFXIV is facing crunch time.

Matsuda will be taking over around the same time that physical copies of FFXIV:ARR are being manufactured and shipped, so the project won't be killed off. But the game's subscription performance over the first few months will decide its fate.

If subscriptions get cancelled in droves like happened just a month after the initial launch, you can rest assured that Matsuda will pull out the shotgun and kill off most of the future development activity. He'll be making an example of the game.

    But!

It is literally in Yoshida's job description as FFXIV producer to not let that happen.

If the P has done his job right, Matsuda will continue to send Yoshida as many resources as he can financially justify asking for, because he will have demonstrated that this is something that is working for Square Enix. Those are the rules of business.

SE is in trouble if ARR dont catch on. if FFXI is still the top dog for them, thats a nail in the coffin.

Yep and it wont catch on with just a stranded mmo model that every game have in there first month of release. For us FFXIV/FFXI players we going to love FFXIV ARR and enjoy everything it have to give for level 50. But for players who never played FFXI/FFXIV it going to be like there old game with a final fantasy setting. Most people don't even care about storyline they just skip all that so i wonder what yoshi-p going to do to hook people with this type of mindset which is a big % of player base now at days.

Actually the most relevant part of that article is that Wada is still going to work for SE.

So much for those stating he was "fired".

Other than that, Yoshida said clearly things aren't going to change for ARR, so we have no elements to guess that they are.

The doom and gloom spin we see from a few people here is downright shameful.

ARR will simply be subject to the same process all MMORPGs go through. If it's successful it will endure. If it's not, it won't.

That's all there's to it, and preemptive doom & gloom is simply nonsensical.

Well, I personally don't pay much attention to it. From what I've seen, this game has enough both original and well-known and approved elements to keep people who want to play an MMO quite happy. I mean, can the game fail? Sure, no game is 100% guaranteed to make it. Only time will tell if this game succeeds. But from what I've seen so far, I really don't think we have anything to worry about.
